Key witnesses withdrew and "new information came to light" according to the CPS spokesperson.
A court heard last October how a central plank in the inquiry had collapsed only four months after Greenwood was arrested.
It is understood that police and prosecutors initially decided to continue with the case because of the significant level of public interest, given Greenwood’s high profile and the seriousness of the allegations.
But a fresh review of the case by CPS lawyers has concluded that there was no realistic prospect of conviction given the collapse of a central part of the police investigation.
this news is huge. i honestly was expecting greenwood to be convicted but i guess the rumours were true about his (ex?) gf no longer cooperating with the prosecution. i wonder what the "new material" is though. its probably the most important part about this newsbreak because itll be the key difference in whether the public continues to see him as an abuser that got a free pass or there was a genuine misunderstanding (eg. doctored photos)
i gotta admit ive always thought what happened to greenwood was a huge shame given his talent and a little part of me now still wants to see how he would perform in the current utd team with ten hag. antony can sit on the bench
from the clubs point of view they have no choice but to bring greenwood back dont they? without new information brought to light its a pr disaster but you cant terminate an "innocent" guys contract. greenwood is still only 21 so doesnt have to be registered and could in theory be listed in the squad to play against palace in 2 days lol. obviously he hasnt been training so it wont happen but the situation is interesting.

So does that mean he comes back into the side? I presume he has been training in the meantime?
To me it feels like the published voicemessages might still be strong enough case to keep him off the pitch, regardless of the outcome of the investigation. We'll see how it goes, I could see Greenwood contesting the contract termination and him and United reaching some kind of behind the doors agreement for some compensation and both parties going separate ways.
As far as I can tell from reddit thread, Greenwood and his girlfriend are back together now and got or are getting engaged. I don't really want to go guessing about private lives, but that relationship sure seems to have some red flags in it.

will probably depend on how much ETH feels whether he's worth the headache or not.

which of the three would you take?
i think it will be mudryk, felix and enzo.

The Abramovich cycle continues. Players need to stop signing for Chelsea, it's a death warrant for their careers
the manager at reims is one to keep an eye on for the future - will still is trilingual in english, french and dutch and is currently undefeated in ligue 1 after 13 games taking over from oscar garcia who was sacked earlier in the season. he ended up in coaching because he was a hardcore FM player which makes his story even more awesome.

I wonder if there could be some kind of two-part transfer system where there needs to be initial submission earlier and then the full paperwork later. I've got limited compassion for clubs leaving it to the absolute deadline, but it's probably pretty terrible situation for individual player to be left sitting in the old club without much foreseeable future.
We weren't that bad, we have improved our leaking of goals, and Fulham sat back and made it very hard, best player on pitch was there right back from a defensive display, making a lot of good tackles and blocks.
We hit the bar and post as well, it wasn't a disaster xD
