I wonder how the Real Madrid players are feeling about the pay cuts they were asked to take earlier. I kind of get that Mbabbe could still be bargain long term if he's a world class striker for the next 10 years, but the chase still feels a bit dramatic for a team that was supposed to be struggling a bit financially just a couple of months ago.
So far we've heard nothing, but I could see some bitterness brewing unless Real has had some awesome diplomatic skills throughout the process.

The whole Mbappe chase is purely self interest from Florentino Perez.
- He went all in on the Super League and failed. Damaged his reputation and made the club look stupid
- Failed to win a trophy last year (which isn't long but those fans be impatient).
- Chased out Zidane for a second time despite Zidane winning La Liga
- Spent 350 million in the 19/20 transfer window for abysmal returns and hasn't been able to sign anyone since (besides Alaba on a free). Their transfers have been bad for a looong time
- Put the club into debt
- Angered La Liga by vetoing the CVC investment
- Pissed off Ramos enough to make him leave for free and lost Varane too
He needs something to give him some glory and credibility again because his record over the last 5 years as a president is atrocious. He has angered and alienated UEFA, FIFA, La Liga, all the Spanish clubs besides the super league ones all within a year. He needs Mbappe NOW rather than next year.

daniel james moving from united to leeds - at least we got a profit out of him; also remember there was big drama nearly signing for leeds but swansea reneging last minute
also so much for real madrid being in financial trouble now that they are getting camavinga.

Yup, from being captain under Sir Alex Ferguson, he is now just a regular player with Maguire as captain and Solskjaer as manager. It's quite the downgrade since the last time he was there

Perez has a construction company, he's working for Qatar, contracts worth billions, he does not care if he has to overpay with Real Madrid's money to not piss a good client from his personal company.

I remember there was an article saying Ramos told all the RM players not to take a pay cut as it would have went to the "Mbappe fund". Guess he was right lol.
Also crazy from both parties, RM actually offered 200m and PSG rejected?!

yeah pure arrogance from psg thinking they will be able to get mbappe to extend his contract if they throw money at him.
also the theory of james being sold to give ronaldo his number made me chuckle a bit. truth is he just wasnt good enough to play for united but im happy that hes found leeds.

There might be some younger players who will think twice before signing for PSG,. Looks like it's really, really tough to get out of there until you run through the whole contract. First it was Rabiot, now it's Mbabbe.

At the start of 2019/20 Atletico Madrid had Antoine Griezmann. Barcelona had Luis Suarez.
In the next 2 years in transfers solely between these two clubs, Atletico has made a net gain of roughly 110 million Euros and gained Suarez. Barcelona has nothing but a huge financial loss. They may end up getting 40 million back after the loan as a best case scenario.
I don't think I've ever seen one club get so badly fleeced by another. It's actually mind boggling
