de gea motm for me also. that was some prime de gea performance today. sancho needs time to adapt though and daniel james is just out of his depth. his touches are honestly sunday league level. we meme about lukaku touches but james makes lukaku look like zidane utd also broke the record for consecutive away matches without a loss, beating arsenals invincibles. pretty crazy how we can have a record like this but not have a trophy to go with it

No, I mean they may do pretty shit but I don’t see them getting relegated and imploding. Not the world’s greatest squad but should be more than good enough to avoid that fate at least

We need to sign a DM asap, Fred and Pogba can't handle intense pressing and James should not start again.

It may very well be that Pogba keeps playing in the holding/pivot position he was yesterday. Going to 4-3-3 would drop Fernandez out of his prime position and even then there are probably too many attacking players who could use regular starts. if we dont get a new midfielder i dont think there is a way to optimally play all our attacking players. fred/mctominay must be used together in a double pivot every game because theyre not good enough to play alone. for all their faults they work well together as ball winners and in retaining possession. that puts fernandes in the 10 position and pogba/rashford/sancho/martial sharing the LW position. CF is ronaldo/cavani/greenwood and RW is greenwood/sancho/mata/james. so the biggest problem is one of rashford or pogba has to be benched (or rashford goes right where hes not that good and greenwood doesnt get to play). if we get a better holding mid then it allows us to play 4-3-3 with 1 dm behind pogba/fernandes with both of these guys just roaming around midfield. on paper this should be way better as long as our dm is competent. i like fernandes being in the middle of the park more and he still has the workrate to get forward whenever possible. i think fernandes was given instruction yesterday to stay high on the pitch and i thought that was a pretty shit decision because fernandes hardly got involved in the game. i prefer when hes in the middle rather than playing as a second striker. hes a good goal scorer but the team performs better when hes involved in the build up more

edit: especially for ndidi if they fail to make CL again, and for brozovic if inter's financial troubles continue edit 2: apparently brozovic has a 60m euro release clause which they're looking to get rid of in the next contract

as for rice i personally think hes overrated af. and west ham want 100m which is completely ridiculous. hes marginally better than mctominay imo but definitely not worth 100m. if you pay 100m for a player in the dm role hes gotta be kante or a modern day carrick/busquets. declan rice doesnt even come close
