I think Liverpool and City look a notch above all other teams this season, but if you disregard the top two of every league, the premier league doesn't really look any better than La Liga, Bundesliga or Serie A. (Although I'd also argue that Chelsea is prolly the best third place team as well. )

I mean, I understand, this isn't the CL crushing Barcalona anymore, so Frankfurt beating them isn't the same level of surprise it would have been 5 years ago. But on the other side, we are talking about freaking West Ham, who have done exactly what to expect them to easily succeed where Barca failed? They are pretty much the same category as Frankfurt. Some of those upper midfield teams coming and going as the years pass, in their better years competing for the European spots left by the blunders of the top dogs and in other years falling completely off into the forgotten void of the lower half of the midtable.

Well did Frankfurt beat Bayern this season because West Ham beat Liverpool this season for example. Also its English pundits, of course they have no idea about anything that isn't top top sides in Europe or premier league lol. I would have favoured West Ham due to their defensive and counter attack play vs Barca too, now vs Frankfurt they have 1 fit CB only and still while they got beat and deservedly so they are still in that tie.

They did. Frankfurt won in Munich 2-1, lost at home 0-1
