The game has become a bit stale, and I think this is the kind of incentive we need to liven it up a bit. Kudos to the team owner and manager! At a Premier League meeting on Tuesday it was agreed that referees will be allowed to apply greater subjectivity within the existing rules, after a conversation with the International Football Association Board (IFAB). They cannot change the rule itself as the IFAB has to agree that, but the Premier League will ask the Select Group of referees to apply more leniency in handball decisions. Anything that hits a hand above the head in the box, for example, would still be a penalty. But a deflection off a hand by a player’s side would be viewed differently. Relevant statistic that so far this season we've seen 6 penalties given for handballs. Last season there were 19 total, and in 2017/18, you saw 6 penalties for handball throughout the entire season. Also seems like the penalty against Dier would prolly still have been given, though. | ||

I was surprised about this part. If that is still given as a penalty do footballers now have to learn to jump without using hands to balance themselves or what is the expectation? In the other news I'm expecting ManU to field a starting eleven that looks like they belong to the premier league. Not just in terms of names but mostly attitude. But also I'd be surprised if it isn't quite close to the team that started the league game on the weekend. In terms of changes Henderson and van de Beek to start feels like a safe guess. Edit: Alas, I am surprised. | ||
