Their line is bad though. I think they should have taken it, if the 2 roster players were good and on good deals. Picks are so damn valuable. Exactly. Patriots invested in their OL to protect Brady. Given enough time, he can find open, minimum salaried WRs and undrafted RBs. Seahawks invest in their skill position players but are dependent on Wilson running around in the backfield behind their revolving door OL while waiting for somebody to get open. What boggles the mind is that the Seahawks think that a run heavy approach works best with that kind of personnel philosophy.

Well the one big factor that is being left out is that Russ has since his rookie contract he has been one of, or the highest paid QB, even with two years left he threated hold out and they bumped him, so it is not like they have much extra resources. And he is not a guy who gets rid of the ball fast, this has lead to many big plays, but it also is super taxing on the oline. Also, Russ has always complained that it is too much running and he needs to pass so the seahawks have spent on expensive (though at times over the hill) TE's like Graham and Olsen. Metcalf is a second round pick so his contract is sick and locket is not eating a bunch of cap. I don't feel bad for russ at all, if he wants to be the top paid player in the league, he has to understand in a hard cap world that means other positions suffer and he can't complain about what he helped to cause. Like if he was underpaid, or on a team like the bengals that spends way under the cap often I'd get his stuff. But Teflon Russ seems to get all the credit and none of the blame (throws pick to lose superbowl, bad play call, and so on). + Show Spoiler + I'm not saying he is not a good QB, I just think he is not worth the salary/hassel if you could get what the bears were offering or more.

1. It is better to spend money and draft picks on the OL and go cheap on skill positions. 2. Run heavy approach doesn't work as well as pass heavy, especially in today's age with more sophisticated passing offenses. Seahawks offense is just too outdated. You're also wasting a good qb with that kind of system. Tony Dungy wasted most of Peyton Manning's prime with that approach. They couldn't win in the playoffs because they kept running the ball first and then asking Manning to do his thing already down 2-3 tds. Wilson is not the only expensive qb in the league. Taking a huge amount of cap space is all the more reason not to have him hand the ball over on most possessions.

Pretty much every offensive lineman will tell you that is exactly what you want to do if your line is thin. Run blocking is easier and improves morale. Blocking for play action is mostly easier as well.

Goodell will cover for them with the conduct detrimental list or whatever its called. And then they get their money back (if they want) easily in arbitration, instead of on some shaky legal grounds.

Also, if you're paying for the masseuse anyway, why not just pay for an actual whore? Isn't that legal in Vegas or something?
