I love it. Assuming what he said wasn't lost in translation, it's pretty unprofessional coming from Zidane, with all due respect. This is the equivalence of players not showing up because they don't want to play for a club anymore, completely unacceptable.

Basically he was saying that on personal terms he's completely fine with Bale, but as a professional he needs to make a decision and has made the decision to drop Bale out of his future plan for Real Madrid. I don't know if those are from the same interview and how they fit together in original context and all that. As far as I can tell, the press decided to quote a specific part of the interview and it comes off in a really blunt way. I have no clue how blunt the original intention was.

"Him staying is not a problem," Zidane said ahead of the International Champions Cup clash against Bayern Munich. "I can't say that the player is a problem. He has a contract, he is here and what I can say is that anything could happen. "I have to respect all the players, he is with us and he is a Real Madrid player. "We will see what will happen. His role has not changed compared to in June."

At least against Bayern, Benzema was badly out of touch, missing some easy sitters. Some of the fan reactions weren't too happy. With Jovic being only 21 and still having to get used to the La Liga environment and all that, they may need Benzema to have another good season and the negative fan pressure probably isn't helping. So, after the game Zidane creates something to talk about. If that hadn't happened, the Benzema form might be at least a bigger topic at hand.

If you consider he didn't play in June and he didn't play even in the last league match when the team didn't have anything at stake (and it was supposed to be his farewell)

Same goes for Oscar, Hulk, Witsel .etc even though they were probably not at Bale's level when they left for shit tiered football in exchange for money. If Bale really wanted to play football, he wouldn't think twice about dropping his pay and he could join pretty much any clubs in Europe that would give him a good chance to get back on top. I think when you have that kind of attitude, it kind of negates whatever raw talent you might potentially have ...
