Oh but that's not it. Griezmann was always (or 99%) going to sign because they had a deal for months, and Barça would have to pay a fee if they didn't honor it (supposedly, I don't have any source). But now they can trade Griezmann + a couple of players, or just money + players, for Neymar. I'm pretty sure the Neymar story isn't ending because Griezmann signed. I mean, how could you stop a team with Messi, Suarez, Neymar, Griezmann, and Coutinho behind them???

Is the Coutinho-Neymar swap rumor still going strong? That seems like a trade both teams could actually benefit and it doesn't require Barca to splash around at least the whole 150 million or whatever Neymar's value is considered these days.

I don't think PSG would let him go for less than they paid, so 220M. Coutinho's value probably went down because of his last 2 seasons, so he's maybe at 70-80? Max 100, but that'd be miraculous. Apparently Neymar gave an interview in Brazil where he says a lot, it'll be out in a few hours. We should know if he's actually leaving. He has already missed 1 week of training and was filmed having fun playing in Brazil, so this looks like he's going for the clash to leave at all cost.

Don't think Barça would pay the same they sold him for, after he has failed so obviously to improve. He left Barça to get out from under Messi's shadow and prove himself on the stage on his own, yet between the flopping, the real injuries and the diva behaviour he has not only not shown that he is remotely capable of doing that, and has been overshadowed by Mbappe and at times even Cavani, at PSG. And he hasn't shown his brilliance on the highest stage with Brazil either.

As a Barça supporter I don't want Neymar back for 200M. It would be bad for the club finances and lately he is always injured. And fuck him, he left to PSG paying the buyout clause without negotiating with us.
But I don't know what to expect from Bartomeu, our board is so incompetent.

At this point Neymar is more know for his attitude as a spoiled brat, diva and diver (flopping fish) than for is skill. And rightfully so. Anyone who pays 200 M for him has lost sight of reality IMO
If I were Barca I would much rather try to spend those 200 M on Mbappe

Which would mean PSG would lose money on a Neymar trade to any club. He is not worth 200 million anymore. They overpaid.
Besides aren't finances a bit stressed at Barca right now, why spend a quarter of a billion dollars for somebody who isn't even reliable in a scrimmage.

While Barcelona was jubilantly celebrating the capture of Antoine Griezmann on a $135 million transfer, his former club Atletico Madrid was preparing court documents to contest the transfer.
Atletico Madrid confirmed on Friday immediately after Barcelona’s official announcement of the transfer that they would be legally contesting the financial compensation, arguing that Barcelona owes them a whopping $225 million instead.
The club angrily released a statement one week ago angrily calling out Barcelona for negotiating with Griezmann on personal terms back in early March, outside of the transfer window and in the middle of the season.“Atletico de Madrid learned that FC Barcelona and the player had reached an agreement in March, specifically in the days following the return match of our Champions League tie against Juventus, and that they had been negotiating the terms of the agreement since mid-February,” last week’s club statement said. “Atletico Madrid wishes to express its strongest disapproval of the behavior of both, especially FC Barcelona, for prompting the player to break his contractual relationship with Atletico Madrid.”
Now, they are contesting that because Barcelona came to terms with Griezmann months ago, which may have voided his contract, they are obligated to pay his release clause at that time, which was $225 million. The release clause dropped to $135 million on June 1, which is what Barcelona claims to have triggered.
Because release clauses are handled by the league office, Barcelona did not have to deal directly with Atletico Madrid on the transfer, instead funneling the money through La Liga and thus voiding Griezmann’s Atletico Madrid contract, allowing him to complete the move to Barcelona.
“Atletico de Madrid believes that the amount deposited is insufficient to meet its release clause, since it is obvious that the commitment of the player and the Football Club Barcelona was closed before the aforementioned clause was reduced from 200 to 120 million euros,” the club said in a statement confirming legal action.
“Atletico de Madrid believes that the termination of the contract occurred before the end of last season due to events, acts and demonstrations carried out by the player.”
Griezmann spent five seasons with Atletico Madrid, making 257 appearances for the club across all competitions and scoring 133 goals. He won the Europa League in 2018 and finished in the top three of the La Liga table in every campaign with the club.

Hm. They didn't fire him, and he didn't quit. They kept paying him. I don't see how they can say his contract was bought out in June, even though it was blatantly obvious that it was going to be bought out.

Apparently this guy is reliable, it certainly would prove the tapping up but still a long shot argument to use this to get the old buyout. However it is certainly hilarious that Barca will now actually have to argue how this is definitely different from the Neymar bonus case.
