I actually am a lawyer...in the US. I'm saying your cause of action doesn't exist. A legislature would have to pass it. Plus proving causality would be almost impossible.

Think Players can opt out. and get 150K for doing so, then contract will just start next year. Think the rest accept the possiblity of Convid like they accept the risk of other injuries they can get from playing football. They will properly have to sign the opt out or sign a contract accepting it.

Its really just a situation where the legal system has never been set up to hold businesses liable for pandemics. There are so me places with laws against individuals taking actions if they know they are infected (HIV is notable for this), but there was 1918 influenza, 1957 Asian flu, and 1968 Hong Kong flu, the first being the worst, the 2md and 3rd being similar to C19, and there was never motivation to create such a cause of action, because frankly doing that wouldn't make much sense.

The bungling of the BigTen's announcement has been possibly the worst it could have possibly been. They just announced a schedule. Apparently they made the choice in a secret cloister much like how the Pope is chosen, and seemingly decided the only plan that they had to have as part of their plan is "cancellation".

This is unacceptably low levels of competence, even if it is expected. Because these people never have a plan. They barely have an idea, let alone something robust like a system.

It’s not official yet, the reporting is all on tips and it looks like some outlets won’t write on it yet. The announcement is expected tomorrow or later this week.

I wonder if coaches and staff are going to be paid as usual if the season doesn't happen? Can't imagine most schools have the budget for that without the revenue from the season?

I know Nebraska coaches/AD has given money back to pay for salaries. Not sure if other schools have some doing the same. I don't think any coaches/staff would be upset not being paid this season if it doesn't happen. They more than likely have enough to weather until some kind of season happens.

And farva, thanks. I'll keep watching my sites and news looking for it. I'm about to lose my shit from not enough college football news as it is. If they cancel...I'm buying stock on booze hahaha
