Most of the tiki taka videos I see involves players like messi/iniesta drawing defenders towards them, thus creating the opening for other players to move be found.
Right now for Chelsea, we only have hazard capable of doing that. That is why our attack is not so in tune yet. That's why I give so much shit to Barkley early on when all I see him do is be a Henderson. Still feel kovacic/Barkley/rlc have much more to contribute, but work in progress.
Yeah you are right, there is a very high skill cap on this playstyle which is why so few can do it and why so much money is spent to get the players to do it.

What on earth is going on with Man City in Europe at the moment. I thought they would be super motivated for the champions league and if anything take their eye off the ball in the league.

Walker has to be a moron. 1-1 in CL and tries to get himself sent off.

Gogo Ajax! Playing so well :D

Real are definitely hit by triple winner curse!!

Man, Ajax came so close. Definitely deserved the win there!
Amazing game.

Damn how much did PlayStation have to pay to get it's advert right under the score on TV for the ManU game I wonder.

CSKA 1 - Madrid 0. Three words. Just fire him !

Amazing game. That goal by mazraoui was insane too. Ajax hasn't been this good in Europe since more than a decade ago I think.

And 0-0 at the ManU game. Even with Valencia passing the ball directly to their players.

But in all honesty, how did you expect this season to go after last season's performance (outside the CL), losing Zidane, Ronaldo, and not recruiting any top player? If Lopetegui's plan is to make it more of a possession based, super collective team, it's going to take some time before you see some results.
|
Is that his plan ? I honestly don't know what his plan is. This team is just passing the ball around. That's it. This is his game plan for now. Pass the ball around(as slowly as possible), then cross and hope for the best. I can't recall Real Madrid playing that kind of style in the past 20 years. 70% possession and the only chances were Mariano missing a couple of headers, against CSKA. I expected them to struggle. I didn't expect them to not be able to put a decent effort against Sevilla, Bilbao and Atletico(2). And then to lose in Moscow. I can't imagine what will happen at El Classico or rather I don't want to.
If Lopetegui thinks that he can turn the entire team philosophy around, I think that he is wrong and shouldn't be allowed to continue his work.

Right now Real is trying to replace Ronaldo with Asensio. Ronaldo is as natural as goalscorers come whereas Asensio has scored maximum of 6 goals in a domestic season so far and on his way to another season with 6 or 7.
They really, really need at least healthy Bale and Isco there, but even then the whole thing just seems a mismatch.
|
Lopetegui and Real Madrid were just way too arrogant this transfer season thinking they don't need to replace Ronaldo and hope that Bale stays fit for more than a month
|
Perez will spend 500+ million euro for renovation of the stadium. I doubt that big transfers fit in his vision for the next 4 or 5 years, especially if the market stays as inflated as it is right now.

Amazing game. Yeah Ajax deserved the win, Bayern was terrible. Wide open on defense, completely harmless on offense past the first few minutes. Neuer's super clutch save against the free kick in the 92nd is the only reason why Bayern squeezed by in the end. Ajax wasted so many chances too.
Kovac will have to make some adjustments, back to back terrible matches in Bundesliga and UCL.

Yeah plus he did spend on some youngsters and the manager he employed is good with youth which he is giving a chance too as he kinda has no choice. Plus he wants Neymar right, that is kinda the only player he wants right now it seems, if he can't get him he will move on.
Maybe he will offer Hazard huge deal in 2 years when his contract is up at Chelsea, if not i dont know.

And not only Ronaldo. Since they won La Liga with Zidane, they have lost Ronaldo, James, Pepe, Morata, Kovacic with almost no replacement.
The starting 11 is still very good but the team bench is very bad compared to some years ago. If a main player injures (Like Bale, Isco and Marcelo recently) the team is screwed.
