This whole telling pogba that he'll never be captain just shows how far gone the team has to be. The guy just came back from pulling the strings for the world cup champions and you don't think he'll ever be able to lead the team? The team had to pay tons of cash because he was ment to feel that he was being held back and he bosman'd. Now you want to repeat that and let him walk because you're so power hungry that you can't even entertain the possibility of him being captain?

Pogba and Mourinho are a complete mismatch and United is a shit show at the moment. Having said that, whatever Pogba does for France is irrelevant when it is in sharp contrast with how he is for United. (Also he's not the France captain, that is Lloris, and when Lloris is unavailable the captaincy falls to Varane). For United his head is the first to drop when things go bad and his agent keeps looking for the exit. Again understandable from his perspective, but do United really want that from a captain?

When I think of great captains I think of Puyol, Deschamps, Kuyt. I feel like great captains never let their heads down and embody what the club represents. That doesn't mean that a captain can't have disagreements with the manager, but you always keep that shit internal.

Is there some reason why Mou simply couldn't have commented that he didn't feel Pogba responded well enough to the captaincy and responsibility?

That throws the challenge back to Pogba: Be better, be more consistent, show maturity. The way Mou handled this seems to be the exact opposite. Now Pogba has no reason to try to be better because the rewards are no longer available for him anyway.

The focus on Pogba is hard to understand. First he's not that good, I don't know how he has become the most expensive player ever at some point. Second, why did they choose to make him a superstar? It makes no sense. It's like Cantona all over again, pick the village idiot and make him a superstar.
