I think the chances of 2 of the top 6 playing each other in the first week aren't that low tbh. In fact I think its more likely than not, but I don't maths.

Well the winter break is set so there is always games on remember.
February 8th fixtures are split. 5 matches 8th weekend, 5 matches 15th weekend. So there is always games for us to watch as fans and every team gets 2 weeks no football. Its also in February remember so it isn't holidays then is it? xD

I never heard of holidays in february either haha xD

This year as well, boxing day games are all streamed via Amazon Prime, so if you have Amazon Prime you will get access to ALL premier league games that matchday available to stream live to your pc/tv !!
Also after some investigations the champions league last 16 this year begins February 18th!! So that means any top 4 side in champions league that gets out of their group could find themselves only with a 10 day break instead of the 14 on offer to everyone else. Oh and i guess the Europa League sides will also be in this boat as well.

Just saw a blatantly offside goal given by VAR in the Australia vs Brazil game. Speaking of sportsmanship in women's football, the Brazil players were furious. The ref called them over, explained the decision, the players all just nodded and carried on playing like they never fucking do in the men's game.

You mean this one? https://streamable.com/a7dzb
That isn't offside. I've been pissed at this for years, but this is a loophole in the offside rule when the defender plays the ball before it ever gets to an offside player. Technically this is an advantage played on (or passive offside if you will) that is then bungled by the defense. It's bullshit but it is technically correct.

Pretty sad that the North London derby at Emirates is so early on in the season. Was hoping it would be during a cheaper time to travel to

yeah thats not offside. I dont have a problem with it either unless the offside player actually affects the defender which they didnt in this case. She isnt even occupying space that upsets the defenders attempt.
I disagree with the commentator that shes involved in the play. You cant make the argument that because the ball wouldnt have been played if she wasnt there, and therefore counts an involvement. Thats too far removed.
What does exist is that the ball was played and the player was not involved.
its the same as if a ball is played is an attack is offside and the defender mis-controls it onto them or plays a bad backpass without the attacker doing anything to affect it. Deflections is another matter though.
So I disagree thats bullshit aswell.

What do Barca fans think about Griezmann? Is his ability really worth it? I mean i dont think i have ever read a single positive thing about him, i doubt hed be good for the dressing room
|
I think hes a bit of a tool generally, but I dont think hes a bad team mate. Hes certainly a very good player. Really difficult to say. He has the calibre and if anything the team he is coming from plays alot similar to the system he is coming to which is kinda funny and he has been pretty good there.
|
Not only I don't like his personality (all the dumb interviews, goal celebrations, haircuts haha), but he completely disrespected Barça AND Atletico last season, only to do it again this year to his club that sacrificed a lot to pay his crazy salary. I don't know how Barça is fine signing him. There are rumors Messi told the direction he didn't want him, and as much as I hate players interfering with club decisions, I hope it's true and they listen.
As a player, he's obviously top tier and could play on the side or as a 9/9.5 to let Suarez rest so it's not a bad idea for that at least. And if they don't sell Dembélé, maybe he can help him grow as a player too.
Anyway I'd prefer a Griezmann signing to a Neymar return, if that's the only 2 options...
|
Haha chelsea another manager gone
|
As far as I've understood, Griezmann is able to put up extremely high work rate for an attacker while still offering good set of attacking versatility too. In that sense Griezmann seems like an ideal pairing for Messi's and his increasingly sluggish contribution on some aspects of the game.
Personality wise he doesn't seem particularly likable, but maybe a transfer could also give him a nice fresh start on there too. Most of the stuff from him seems more naive and silly than malicious, don't know whether that's a good or a bad thing.
|
High work rate for Atletico and for France because that's how the teams play. Turan was also like that before he had enough and moved to Barça to play more "football". I'm afraid Griezmann might turn out the same knowing how Valverde doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. Let's see...
|
What we really need is a ST to replace Suarez in the near future, we have the left flank covered with Dembelé/Coutinho atm. I don't really understand why they signed Griezmann tbh.

Just saw it. I think giving the goal was the correct decision. The offside player didn't do anything active
