Siakam's learning experience probably cost them a game or 2... but who cares about the regular season any way. i like Casey/Ujiri's high-risk/high-reward develop the team for a very high ceiling mindset. If it means they lose a few regular season games along the way and a few guys have bad boxscore stats.. .who cares. OG and Delon... best defenders on the team. uhhh i hope Delon didn't fuck up his right wrist. i just fucking love it when Delon blocks the jump shot of a 7 footer.. he blocked Dirk twice.. now whoever that was on Atlanta... LOL. | ||

I don't blame or hate him, it's ugly and 50+ FTAs per game is ridiculous, but I think it's all on the refs to be consistent and to decide which are actual fouls and which are made up ones. | ||

Casey should put the bench out there again... the starters are sleep walking. casey pulls the trigger and puts his 2 defensive stoppers into the game.. OG and Delon. Delon Wright was the best player tonight.. in general the starters were "meh". Freddy and Delon really work well together. | ||

You have to give it to him though, he found an exploit in the game and he's taking full advantage of it. I'd say he's truly an innovator. He's possibly the first person that thought of driving to the basket with the goal of getting to the free throw line instead of making a shot. Getting to the line is going to net him more points than any other shot unless it's a 2pt FGA that he makes 85%~ of the time or a 3 that he makes 60%~ of the time. Harden is easily the GOAT FT getter as evidenced by: -NBA made a rule change because of the way he was drawing fouls on 3-pointers last season -Got fouled on more 3PA last season than any other NBA team -Ranked #270 in all-time FGM but ranked #56 in all-time FTM -A season with 700+ made FTs has only been done 6 times in the last 29 years, 3 of them are by James Harden in his last 3 seasons and he's on pace to do it again this season -Has made more FTs than FGs. I haven't done much research but I would bet that James Harden is the only player in the history of basketball to make more FTs than FGs. | ||

I think the solution is: 1. Referees to be very extra super keen on this and other shit like this - like flopping, tech baiting (like Calderon to Durant a while ago), and traveling 2. Players need to learn to defend better without doing amateur arm reaching and flailing. This is a hard ask I know, but think SAS in last year's series vs. the Rockets, or to be specific think Iguodala, Ariza, or Kidd. If players could raise their defensive IQ close to that level, then it will all be for good for NBA. Harden is exposing a basketball vulnerability in the same manner that Kyrie and Curry are with their video-game level dribbling, and Curry with his three point shots. You have to address it specifically by improving as a defender. | ||

Our lone ref in pick up games at the Y spots lane violations like this from across the center court ezpz. Refs are getting a lot of unnecessary attention so early in the season. | ||

I stumbled across this video earlier last week about how Illegal Defense may have helped MJ score a ton of his points (free drives to the basket, basically). Thought it was really interesting. Especially because I didn't start watching basketball until the 2001-2002 season specifically because of what an ugly game it was before then. Caught a game one night while stoned and discovered that I suddenly enjoyed watching a game with lots of ball movement and a more entertaining "flow."
