Reading some of the reports, he has refound his form over the last two years. Basically, the Spurs used him badly, and he showed in China that he still has it, and has even improved. Of course, whether being a star in the CLS transfers to being even somewhat decent in Europe remains to be seen. Oh, and vastly overpaid, of course.

There is only one Paulinho xD Was at Spurs for 1 season then went to China for some reason I mean that Paulinho started some kind of comeback because Tite knows how to use it Not a bad player, but come on, China isn't Spain, pretty big bet (that might work out) especially considering Barcelona is paying 40

I looked at some of the National Team games since I heard about this. Hes actually like twice the player he was at Spurs - which is kinda wierd and doesnt make sense conventionally. Still probably not worth 40 million but when you got 220 to spend.. meh... He adds some much needed steel and box to box ability that Busquets heavily lacks but I dont know of any solution to when the press gets broken and good teams get counters off. I dont think there really is one. But thats the key problem. Also the fact that they never actually properly replace Dani Alvez with a defender that can get out of jail with pace is hurting them alot. This Barcelona isnt even close to competing with Real at the moment. Not even in the first 11 let alone depth.

This Barcelona isnt even close to competing with Real at the moment. Not even in the first 11 let alone depth. So he actually became a better player moving to China that is quite surprising, although confidence can be a weird thing for players. I'm curious to see him play for Barcelona now. I'm assuming that Barcelona will be looking to offload Andre Gomes because of this transfer. Anyway to stop counters from getting off once the press is broken? That's impossible I feel, you rather concede a yellow card when you think you are losing the press than have a full blown counter. Once the counter is underway I think you need fast defenders or a sweeper GK to get you out of jail, you probably came to the same conclusion. It's why I'm a bit surprised that Barcelona aren't going for Ajax's Sanchez. Barcelona probably felt Ajax were asking too much money, but they are going to have to accept that things aren't going to be cheap.

Sadly, I don't think he's a Barcelona caliber player, especially when you compare to RM's midfield.

Like Coutinho saga for example wouldn't be a thing if the transfer window in England had shut and Barca came in for him as Liverpool would just tell the player we cannot replace you, you gave us no time you have to stay.
