Barca have made themselves too dependant on Messi ever since David Villa left and are starting to get the side effects of it as Messi is too old to keep carrying every match

they are missing Neymar and are pitifully weak in Midfield compared to Real. Real wasnt even full strength for most of the game. Bad news for the season.

I still laugh at people who thought he is good when it was actually all Puyol's work.

Dono about that. Hes as good as it gets really. If your criticism of him not being able to handle being left on island all the time then I cant say. Guys like JT and Puyol dont come around all the time.I cant think of people who would do much better being left on an Island..

I'm not seeing much in that if I'm honest. I need a better angle to see if his foot got clipped, but I think the yellow is fair.

Well i think the match said it all... Barcelona is going through some tough time after Neymar left. The fact is that with one less threat up front, their opponent has less to worry about and thus in turn their defense suffers a higher pressure. Also it doesn't help that Madrid has the best and deepest line-up in the world at the moment. Their subs look like they could contest the title themselves to be honest.

Ignoring the fact that cutting the ball back was the better play. Thats a 50-50 play for pretty much any defender on the planet.. Not that Pique excels at that anyway..

I don't know what people have been smoking, but the game was pretty even to me. 2 amazing goals in 'easy' (you still need the talent to do what CR and Asensio did) counter-attacks, but apart from that, nothing crazy. Also it's just a pre-season game, no one cares. It just hurts a bit more on Barça side after the Neymar business.
Obviously nice dive from Suarez, but what Cristiano did was just hilarious. The Messi complex is so strong he had to get a ridiculous yellow and then a red.
My biggest problem this game was that it looks like it's back to the Messi false 9 tactics. There was absolutely no one to take the right wing (Vidal was playing more defense to counter Marcelo I guess), and they completely ignored the left one. Deulofeu had no chance to shine, and when Denis Suarez took his place, it wasn't much better. This Barça is too predictable, they only go through the center... That doesn't work against Real. Makes me fear the worst; Luis Enrique took 6 months and a big fight to finally be able to put the normal 4-3-3 with Messi on the right. Now it looks like it's going to be the same "Messi is above all" bs with Valverde. Also Iniesta is getting old.

For me the ronaldo situation should have been handed simpler. Did that what happened deserve to see Ronaldo off the pitch, no it did not. There was contact enough to maybe make him fall, but never a penalty. However to send him off for that is very harsh.
Plus due to the nature of the game is technically a friendly as well and now Ronaldo can't play in the next leg xD

No. Fuck diving and fuck players asking for penalties. Yellow card seems completely justified.
And yes, Suarez should have gotten one too. But this is football, a contact sport, not glee club...

Referee apparently recorded shove in official report so Spanish FA can't ignore it. 4-12 game ban across all national competitions tho Real (Barca, Deportivo, Valencia, Levante next four).
