Initially, basketball was the only team sport in which the host country was not automatically awarded a team in the tournament. This was because the British basketball teams did not exist until 2006, and hence FIBA, the world's regulatory body of basketball, was concerned about the future of the British national basketball teams after 2012, as well as the probable lack of competitiveness of the British teams. However, in a meeting held in Lyon, France, on 13 March 2011, the FIBA's executive board agreed to allow the two British teams to enter automatically, after all. en.wikipedia.org

Brazil is probably not even the worst team, womens rugby has only a few good country, there was a new zeland- colombia game and a GB-Japam game that were like 80-0.
Only good game was US-Fiji I think.

Edit : I hope France wins against the USA in football. That would be wonderful.

Scored in 6 straight tournament games dating back to the World Cup. USA didn't play all that great. Both teams looked disorganized. A rematch would be interesting

China's basketball team still has the old school mentality where height matters most. They have a lot of slow-footed 7-footers. The US team has 2 point guards, 2 centers and 8 swingmen who can switch everything and play that Golden State style of defense.

Which is crazy because the NBA has shown that the three pointer is the most important thing in basketball now.

Haha yeah, well deserved bronze from her. She was so cute, hugging the bar after her 3rd C&J attempt.
Is that a legal lift, it looks like her butt was on the ground?
edit: Also, what is the best way to record and upload gifs on TL for anyone who has done it previously.

Anyone who can position their body like that and lift deserves it anyway. I don't know if being lower is helpful, is it?

It's not so much about whether it's helpful, just whether its allowed or not. The judges are very strict here, almost made one of the competitors cry.
You can watch her lift here (since you're from Canada) at 45:00:

It really wasn't as bad as it looks in the pic, but she started falling forward, and then somehow magically saved it.
