As long as the team performs well when it really matters that's okay We almost always suck in test matches, yes. However, the record in qualification has long been close to perfect (until the 2016 qualifiers). When germany used to "suck" in qualification, it was because of a nonconvincing win or an occasional draw, but on the way to win the group nevertheless. When almost any other big nation "sucks" in qualification, it means that they suck in a way that they have to go to the playoff stage of qualification or even miss out on tournaments entirely.

The Portuguese league this year was as fun as ever.

I enjoyed this season just as much as any other. The main problem with the activity here is probably the fact that most people here follow top English clubs. Or in general English clubs and aside from Leicesters story which everyone likes but doesnt at the end of the day root for like their own team the qualiy of the footy just wasnt there. It was either super inconsistent like City or Arsenal (nothing new for Arsenal) or just not a very high level and grindy like United were this season. Or it was just unadulterated garbge that was Chelseas season. So its obvious the enthusiasm may have been muted. Also there was alot less shitposting which isnt the worst thing in the world.

I don't think that the majority of posters here follow English clubs. We have quite a few supporters for different leagues. I think that the problems are 1) reduced interest in SC2 esports (so reduced site traffic) and 2) reduced excitement from the leagues. Aside from this year, England is the same few teams and is probably the most interesting league to watch due to the number of potential contenders, but even then the number is quite small. Spain is always Barca/RM (Atleti gets credit for winning one year). The Bundesliga will be won by Bayern for years to come (I predicted this 3 years ago and it came true!). There are a whole slew of reasons why Bayern has an insurmountable grip on this league and it will never change. France is a joke when PSG wins by god-only-knows how many points a year. Juve just won what, their 4th or 5th in a row? The competition is nonexistent there as well.

Look guys, I think its obvious that football is a dead game, what with soccer 2 coming out next year and everything. I blame FIFA and their shitty patches, they ruined everything. edit: Also this thread becoming 'serious discussion only, no fun allowed!' contributed.

Ter Stegen has not had a single good game for Germany. Maybe it's time to give more other goalies a chance. Like Trapp or even Fährmann.

Yeah I guess you are right I use the LD site mostly for past year or so, also the lack of pointless spam I suppose.
