How can you sit down when your team is down, should be commanding by the pitch" I don't think it makes a difference. I doubt the players can even hear the coach and if they do I don't think they listen to what he says. At least I've never cared about the things my coach said in a match in my legendary football career.

At least I've never cared about the things my coach said in a match in my legendary football career. maybe, maybe not. it's probably more of a psychological thing. not so much what the coaches shout or whatever. for all you know, your coach could be at the touchline shouting "COME ON YOU FUCKING WANKERS, YOU GUYS ARE FUCKING RUBBISH" and making all sorts of gestures. You'd prolly not hear a thing, but that might get you fired up regardless. Also looks better from the fans perspective i guess. Rather than being so nonchalant and sitting back looking like you don't care.

I'm not really sure to be honest. I was just commenting about how different LVG and Giggs where yesterday rather than suggesting one style was better. I've had enough of LVG's boring ass football as a neutral and now pretty much want him to go. But loads of good managers sit down and are prety calm for a lot of the game.

Their play under Heynkes felt much better and much more fitting to the strengths of the players. Winning the Bundesliga and losing twice in the CL semis has to been seen as a failure for this kind of squad to be frank. Because Heynkes' team losing to Chelsea was better? There's no way you can expect to win the Champions League every year, no matter how good your team is. As far as I remember, these 2 lost semi-finals were a lot more balanced than the scoreline indicates... 1-0 unlucky loss in Madrid then 2 headers from Ramos in 10 minutes. And last year, with tons of injuries and 0-0 until the 60-70th minute in the Camp Nou, playing well. Also, to be fair, the competition in the Bundesliga was tougher during Heynkes years, Dortmund won it, right? Isn't that a failure too? Now Guardiola spends the whole year with 10-15 points ahead of the second, how do you prepare your team for big games when the whole year is full of meaningless games? Not that it's impossible, but supporting PSG, I understand very well how hard it is to turn up just for big games (and we'll see it again this year in Feb/March).

I'm happy that Ingolstadt and Darmstadt as Bundesliga newcomers collect points again and again but their approach is a lot more defensive as far as I can judge that.

I don't really see why the coach's job is to pander to the fans. His job is to prepare the players, put the right players in the right spots and execute a strategy that can beat the opposing team. LvG seems to believe he can better do that when taking notes during the match than shouting like a lunatic. Him pandering to the fans by shouting like a lunatic would thus be detrimental to his primary job.

e: What about the upcoming winter transfer window? Usually there aren't that many big transfers but with Klopp having a hard time (which might well come down to tactics same as in dortmund. great against big clubs/favourites, bad against lesser teams), Chelsea getting a new coach, LvG not in the best position, Swansea without a coach we might see a few more changes? It's more wishful thinking but I don't rule Dortmund transfers out because Tuchel now knows more about his squad. Not sure what Real is going to do as they are never satisfied. Serie A is pretty open and could see 1 or 2 clubs trying to get the edge through transfers? What was I thinking benching Gomes instead of DDG.

I was in Dortmund for both of our el qualification home matches and my mom would ask me afterwards how I felt about Tuchel on the side compared to Klopp. To be fair I was sitting quite a distance away but during the match I couldn't care less about what the coach does. It's something you notice watching TV as the coaches are shown every few minutes but in the stadium? e: What about the upcoming winter transfer window? When i go stadium i only look at bench when break in play or i want to see if coach was doing anything if result wasn't going our way. Like you say in stand you have full view of everything way more to see. Also yeah i think this is going to be a VERY busy January transfer window in England
