And yet another big lol at those who thought Bale was/will be better than Neymar.
In short, FCB played beautiful football and RM got rekt hard, as usual :3 Nah, Benitez wasn't the problem. Real Madrid players came to him during the week to dictate the lineup and tactics for the match and Benitez agreed because is he stuck with a roster of players that never wanted him and don't like him and he has to try to make something out of it. Too many cancerous players on this Real team. Real as a club are just managed terribly. Constantly tinkering with players from the board, players sabotaging the team morale when they are no longer good enough (Casillas), etc.
You are right, Benitez wanted to play with Casemiro as a defensive midfield, but players, president and the fans pressed him to try to press far away and play offensive (Kross has been terrible this season by the way), and they received 4 goals.
Atletico #2 in la liga after today victory.

He really does. I was actually worried about Gio because he was put in a very difficult and dispiriting position at the end of last season with the EL qualification but he has been great this far. The beginning of the season was solid but not truly convincing, but since then, the quality of the matches has rapidly been increasing. We look far more cohesive in attack then we did early on. Kuyt and Elia are playing way better then I thought they would and Gustafson has really been an excellent surprise.

Coq out for three months apparantly. :/

Massive blow to Arsenal, Coq is the most important defensive player in the team due to the lack of a replacement. I've been saying Arsenal could contend for the title with him fit but now that seems to be a hurdle.

And his replacement, conceded the free kick that West Brom scored from and then scored an own goal before limping off himself. fml

Agreed, best be prepared to drop more pts against shitty teams.

This is not "madrid-clause", it's a normal practice. At the end of the day, nobody forced anybody to sign the contract. And what is the difference ? Real played with the Rafa "tactics" and lost to Sevilla. And looked as clueless as in this game. Yeah they allowed less goals... Big deal. Let me remind you how Real played against PSG, again with Rafa's "tactics". I think that at this point it's obvious that Rafa should be fired ... Right now. Stop the bleeding as soon as possible. He was a terrible mistake, from a terrible president, that should leave with him.
And by the way, you wont beat Barca while sitting back and waiting for counter attacks. And frankly there is no need to do that versus that version of Barca. Real Madrid has the players to play its style and to outplay Barcelona... The problem is that their current coach is clueless about how to utilize his players.

I don't think you can criticize Benitez too much, he's never been able to do what he wanted. Lack of balls, maybe, but lack of support from it's president, for sure. The players never listened to him and he's forced to play a style that he doesn't like/master because of vox populi (which I don't criticize either). He also has the worst luck in term of injuries and form (Ronaldo isn't to blame?) in years. It's like asking Guardiola to go full catenaccio and then put the blame on him if he doesn't get any result.
It was indeed a mistake to hire him, he just doesn't "fit", but blaming him for what happens on the field is a bit easy.

Yeah, at the end of the day, you have all this crazy talent on display and regardless of what the tactics were they were pretty useless. Rafa is a disciplinarian but his style is based on being solid and allowing some of your attacking players more freedom then they would in other systems.
Agree h'es not a Real Madrid coach. Thing is even if you had a Real style coach, and even if you have the players to beat Barcelona playing positive football (Mou beat Barca atleast once playing attacking football, Ozil was genius that game iirc) if its the kind of day Barca were having yesterday it would be a shellacking regardless.
I feel bad for Ancelloti, he always gets fired for like no reason after doing well everywhere he goes. Or well I suppose maybe not no reason, but a shitty reason liketrophyless season following a successful one, its like every thing he did before that didnt exist. First failure. Out the door.

At 18:30 GMT (+00:00) Perez will make an announcement, after the board meeting earlier in the evening. If we are lucky, Benitez will be out. If we are extremely lucky, Perez will leave with him. Most likely nothing will happen, because "I'm Perez and I don't make mistakes, duh !".

Neymar has been impressing so much lately that everyone forgot that Messi is injured. XD Last time Messi was injured this thread and media was talking about Messi, now: no mention of him at all.
|
Real Madrid played really really bad, but to be fair, they had chances to score in 0-0, 0-1, 0-2, to make it a lot more close
i mean, a lot of the result happened because real madrid was playing bad and the few they had were saved by Bravo, if Bravo didnt cut that corner at the start of the game (minute 7 i believe) Benzema was there to score and the game would have been completely different, even the save agaisnt James.
Barcelona played much better, but they also scored the chances they had, like i said if RM could have score at least on the 0-0 or 0-1 the game could have been different.
Also, wasnt Benzema out of such a long time ? And Benitez put him 90 minutes while replacing James at the start of the second half
like what was that

Coquelin out for two months. Welp, guess we'll have to wait for next year to mount another challenge. We're fucked without a proper DM, and our only one left is Flamini. Wohoo...

I know. It's awesome, finally football does not revolve around Messi and Ronaldo anymore. Them being out of form is I think the best thing that has happened to us for years.
Other players (especially everyone on Barca) finally earn their spotlights.

Ancelotti shouldn't have been fired at Madrid as he is one of maybe 4 coaches in the game right now that you can truly say are above the rest. Even so...I think Madrid is just too chaotic for their own good. Bayern and Barcelona that are the #1 and #2 teams in Europe over the last what 7 years, and are ahead of the rest by a mile, have achieved what they have through stability within the teams and the club.
I think Mourinho is right when he says what he accomplished with Madrid wasn't given enough credit. After this season it will be 1 league victory in 8 seasons for Madrid (unless they get a minor miracle this year) and that victory came with Mourinho in charge. Casillas wasn't good enough and making that decision cost Mourinho part of the locker room and as much as anything led to Mourinho's downfall at Real. I'm not sure Mourinho would have lasted for other reasons, but what he achieved with Real really needs to be looked in the light of how strong Barcelona have been over this 8 year period. Real are going to struggle to win with Rafa or any other coach that isn't of the very highest standards. And Rafa is weird...he's got random successes with mental breakdowns and tons of disappointments. He seems an odd coach to lead Real.

Moudrid's 11-12 liga was armed robbery (refs help) so I don't think it deserves much praise. The spanish Copa was legit but it's a minor title. These two trophies in three years can and is considered a failure.
Ancelotti on the other hand, got the CL in his first year and then got fired after getting nothing the next year. This was almost as stupid as firing Del Bosque after he won La Liga.
