Competed for the first time in a couple years this weekend, bodyweight at 103kg
Snatch 116, 123x(tiiiny press out), 126x
Clean and Jerk 140, 147, 155

All things considered, I'm extremely happy with how things went, mostly in the clean and jerk. I haven't even front squatted 155 in recent memory so I'm still not sure how I pulled that off but I'm back over 90% of my all time best and have some hope that I might return to national level competition again this year. Training has mostly sucked for the past couple years, lifting by myself in my backyard in the snow, rain, and heat with an uncooperative body at best so it was extremely cathartic to finally throw some decent weight overhead.
how reasonable is it to eat off wood instead of your tummy?

I saw the lifts. C&J was really cool. Second snatch was just unlucky, I saw the press-out, but still pretty strict from the judges. Still, if you want to compete on the national level again, then it's probably good to stay sharp.

Really hope you can get back to where you were! As far as this forum is concerned, you are still the man

I really didn't do my health and fitness any favors the last 2 years. Finally got back into it this year in time to get my birthday squats in.

KelianQatar had her ankle deconstructed and put back together 1 year ago in a procedure pretty similar to what NBA-er John Wall had done. Nine months after surgery she was squatting 205 lbs//95 kg for 5 sets of 5 reps. She is hanging and banging in the gym these days and over 45 yo. ( and in Gold League on the SC2 ladder )

The surgery was 2.5 hours long and left an 8 inch scar on the back of her ankle. They ripped her ankle wide open and removed the achilles tendon from the bone. Then they scraped away a lot of scar tissue from the bone.... cleaned up the tendon and re-anchored her achilles tendon in 2 places. She lost a few millimetres of flexibility due to the removal and re-attachment.

The original injury was ~20 years old; she got the injury and aggravated it playing the catcher position in softball//fastball.

I predict she'll be back to squatting 275 lbs for 5 sets of 5 reps in six months.

There is 1 problem with Qatar getting back to her normal strength level tho....

Update: Pulled 241kg/530lbs for an all time PR Only took over 11 years to do it but we got there fam.

I've been a borderline shut-in for the past six months so I said fuck it and bought a bike since I won't get run over here like I would've in the US. Time to hopefully get back in shape!

Nice one Decaf, you still got it!

For the last year I've been working in the office, but 6 years prior I was working as a site superintendent for construction projects. That involved a lot of running around and helping out the trades, so a combination of being younger and the exercise made up for not doing any structured training, eating poorly etc.

But in the last year I went from 170-175lbs to 195lbs (at just shy of 5'10"), I'm sure several pounds of muscle also lost in that time, so all in all, not thrilled about my physique and in the last 3 months I started weighing myself daily which was a bit of a reality check.

I've been playing 75 minutes of high intensity squash weekly for the last 2 months, but I'm motivated to turn it up again. For my new place I bought 90lb powerblocks and an adjustable bench, and just yesterday I finished my first week of the Frankoman dumbbell only split (as expected, I've been walking like a cripple for the last 2 days lol). I have a company wide 200km cycling race I'm entering in July, so that's giving me some extra motivation, and going to incorporate cycling to work 2-3x per week (25-30km~ each way) once the snow melts. Hopefully next week that will be possible.

Definitely learning a lot lessons from my lifting back when I was 17-21. Where I would put lifting a higher weight above all else which led to me taking really long breaks between sets and not being efficient. I would be trying to lift higher weights that I could lift with proper form, etc. I've never needed to diet or make a meal plan in the past, but that's definitely the most difficult part for me right now. Keeping track of macros and whatnot without making this a full time job.
