The hate was largely tied to how badly they wanted and needed him on the Cavs. It goes away pretty quickly when they get what they really want, particularly after how badly the team has been managed and missing the playoffs in a terrible conference despite being in win-now mode.
As much as I'm glad the Lakers got a steal with Ed Davis, I can't help but be disappointed that the Clippers didn't get him instead if he was available for so little. The Clippers could have really used another backup PF at a bargain price.

I mean it kind of already is that way. Look at Jodie Meeks, Earl Clark, Shannon Brown and Trevor Ariza.
You play well for the Lakers during a contract season and you WILL get paid on your next contract.
