Beyond stupid on behalf of the NBA.
- Teams with 1 championship will have the same symbol as the Celtics/Lakers.
- Players like Nash will have a championship tab on their jersey despite never being on a championship team. This doesn't work like it does in soccer because there is no team pride in basketball on the level of national pride soccer teams. While in soccer you will see the stars and find pride, in basketball I imagine players, like Nash, will look at it and just be pissed that he hasn't won one.
- Similar to the above issue, players who HAVE won championships and switched teams, no longer get the tab. Now we have a situation where Greg Oden has a championship tab while Lebron James doesn't.
- More than half the teams in the league have won a championship. When the majority of teams have the same gold little tab, it loses any novelty or impact.
- Is a knife in the stomach to small market teams who probably won't be winning for a while, like Charlotte.
And there were lols everywhere!

I'm more in favor of the star system someone adapted from soccer.
1 championship = 1 stripe/star 3 championship = 2 stripes/stars 5 championships = 3 stripes/stars 10 championships = 4 stripes/stars

Boozer is not a bad player but he's way overpaid, Taj Gibson is way better for the value and for defense. Goodbye Boozer
edit: boozer to Rockets for 2/$10mil
|
Well I can't find any source on Boozer to Rockets, sooo...
|
Its a rumor and contract is reasonable.

He's actually decent adrien. Not so bad at the min.
|
I feel like with the current market the way it is Booz would be able to get more than 5 mill/year if he wanted. Unless you mean 10 per year.
|
Boozer is a liability. I wouldn't want him on my team at any price. His offence has deserted him and he's David lee level bad on D.
Maybe as a backup bench big but he's not a starter level player anymore.
|
Why even take more than the minimum? I would take the vet minimum at the best contender for the rest of my amnesty period just to spite the team that amnestied me.
Edit: Nm, figured out you have to go to highest bidding team unless no one wants you, then FA.
|
who's going to bid on boozer o-o
|
If I understand it right teams blind bid, and you can bid the vet minimum. If multiple teams are tied for highest bid, Boozer goes to the one with the worst record.
I don't think we'd mind getting Boozer for like 3m for next season.
Edit: Just kidding, I don't think Rockets will bid. We need cap space to bid, that means renouncing our trade exceptions from Lin, and giving up the MLE for the smaller MLE. If he makes it past waivers, we might offer him the MLE.
The Lakers can bid the minimum...
|
how does the bidding work for amnestied guys, is it total contract value? so 25 over 4 years will win over 18 over 2?
|
Yeah, so minimum bid is 1.4m (whatever vet min is) times # of years left in contract (which is 1 for Boozer).
Edit: You bid for the remainder of the contract, not parts of it. The new team assumes the contract, bonuses/options and all, just they only pay their bid, the amnestying team picks up the difference in salary.

He turned down 5/44 from Indiana too.
Kemba / Gary Neal Lance / CDR? / PJ Hairston? MKG / Gerald Henderson / Marvin Williams? Cody Zeller? Vonleh? They could use Boozer, even though Big Al/Boozer sounds horrible on defense. Big Al / Bismack Biyombo

holy shit...Charlotte is looking like a good league pass team
Another guy with a short deal. He has option in 3rd year I guess?
|
Team option in third year. Surprised me too, if he wanted to align with the TV deal it should've been player option, unless literally no one was offering Lance contracts.
They have good defensive wings, but rim protection will be invisible. Pretty much the opposite of what you want.
|
ugh damn. Lance might be screwed out of money then :/
He's still young so maybe 3rd year he goes "contract year" and gets a bigger deal.
|
|
god damn. so his nutcase ECF cost him 6M a year? lol
|
And there goes Indiana. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
