So him spending the rest of the game keep his arm close to his body, changing instantly after any kind of body contact and sitting on the bench bent over is faking too? And The Oscar goes too! BTW bet you PK Subban's salary no diving fine is handed out. Oh BTW how many of those does PK have? | ||

People complain "oh, he wasn't even injured" but that's really just lucky. He could have easily been injured on that play and, as much as I love Subban, that was dumb as shit and dumb deserves to be punished. If Stone does that on Subban there wouldve been a riot after the game. They wouldve flipped the Sens' bus over to eat Stone's heart. Im perfectly fine with the way they dealt with it. Major + misconduct + no suspension is all right imo. | ||

I agree that had the players been swapped, the Habs fans would have been pissed. I do disagree with how they dealt with it though. Major + misconduct may be the right response for the action in the game, injury or not, however, I do believe he should have been suspended. Injuries happen in sports. If Subban had legally checked Stone and the fall from the check caused Stone to fracture his wrist, nobody would be calling for a suspension, or even a penalty. There is a big difference between an intent to hurt your opponent, and an intent to injure your opponent, and Subban did the latter. I used to play Football, and that is the game I am much more fond of. Truth be told, I'm also not a huge Sens fan. Back when I was playing football, I played every play with the intent to hurt the person I was lined up against. I wanted to bruise him, bloody him, knock the wind out of him, but leave absolutely no reason that he couldn't get up and let me do it again to him 15 seconds later. I wanted to mentally beat down my opponent until he didn't want to line back up against me. Not that he couldn't, but that he didn't want to. I also broke my arm at the wrist in a game of football. It was the first game of the season, and it ended up being my last year playing. I got up after a play and realized my wrist wasn't working properly; it didn't hurt much, but I felt like something was wrong. I took a knee, got off the field, and saw the medic. I wanted to get it wrapped up so I could get back out there and finish the game. The medic wrapped it up, but would not clear me to get back in the game. I was fucking pissed. I can completely understand why Stone would want to get back in the game, even if he shouldn't have, because I've been in a similar position.. Once the game was over, I ended up going to the hospital and getting some X-rays done, and found out it was indeed broken. I missed 2 weeks, and had to wear a cast for the rest of the season (which ended up being a few months because we went all the way to the OFSSA finals that year). I should have missed more than that, but I was persistent, and finally found a doctor on the 7th try that would clear me to play. Looking back at it, it was stupid for me to get back and play that early, because I could have done some serious and permanent damage to my arm. One game I actually broke my cast (I had to wrap it up during games), and didn't realize until I was unwrapping it and it was basically disintegrated. I had to get a new cast put on, otherwise I'd need a week to recover, and by this point we were in our playoffs. It was a dirty play. If that happened off the ice, it would have easily qualified as assault. That crossed the line. The fact that the league didn't suspend him is ridiculous. On the flip side, they do have to make sure that the punishment fits the crime, to act as a deterrent but not enough to be vindictive. Personally, my view is that if you took another player out of the game for a period of time due to an action like this one, you should be taken out of the game yourself for the same amount of time plus one game as punishment. If Stone gets cleared to play tomorrow, then no suspension would be needed, but if Stone misses even a single game because of this, then Subban being able to play is incredibly unfair. Realistically speaking if the league isn't going to protect players from being injured like this, and they aren't going to do anything to punish and deter these types of boneheaded plays, then it actually seems like Cameron called it as it is..... Frankly, a 5 minute major and a game ejection for getting a star player out of the lineup for the rest of the series seems like an absolutely amazing trade | ||
