Actually during Oct/Nov the Wild were pretty much the best puck possession team in the NHL. They were best in shot suppression, one of the best in shots/G, and in the top 3rd of the league in G/G. During this time, they were a strong team showing good results and competing for a high spot in the Central. The thing that kept them down was an extremely low shooting percentage and a low save percentage. The Wild only started looking really bad in December, when their possession numbers took a sharp nosedive (they are now routinely out-shot, when they out-shot their opponents for all but 1 of the first 15-20 games or so) and their save percentage went to league-worst levels. So their possession numbers are actually pretty good indicators of their success as well. Also, the Wild have been a horrible puck possession team for Yeo's entire tenure. The only time they were good at it were the first two months out of this season.

Such trade bait but interesting question, will the Red Wings make Babcock the most expensive coach in the NHL?

Supposedly Doan asked for a trade out of the desert and was denied. I hope he rots there. He's always been an overrated shithead who gets away with a lot of dirty stuff because he's a 'franchise player' on a dumpy franchise Outside of those two, I don't really see any particularly big names that are definitely gonna move. Personally I don't see any of the big name kids moving out of Edmonton. Maaaaybe Yandle moves out of the desert. But considering they just got a new owner and that team is already hurting for big name players I don't think it happens. Maybe Buffalo unloads Moulson or Stewart. Or maybe this is the year Ryan Oreilly is finally moved.

Nelson's been trying to get him going lately, and hopefully with Drai down in the dub, and Yak playing his minutes with actual NHL centers, he can turn it around.

The return on Yak wouldn't be worth it anyway, even if he's still putting up zero points, just so we can save face. Yak goes to another team and scores 30 -> OILERS GOT FLEECED LOL. Yak stays on the Oil and doesn't produce -> YAK IS A BUST LOL. There's no winning for that kid in this situation, I feel bad for him. Nelson's been trying to get him going lately, and hopefully with Drai down in the dub, and Yak playing his minutes with actual NHL centers, he can turn it around. Those are all draft day trades I think. MAYBE someone is desperate at the deadline for scoring and wants to gamble on Yak and overpays, thus making it a decent trade but I doubt it. This season, like every other Oiler season stopped mattering early. This was earlier than most with that insane 16 or something game losing streak

The entire team is drastically under-achieving, which is infuriating. Most people didn't think much of the Wild before the season started, and then they looked like idiots for the first two months of the season when we transformed our offense into the best the franchise has ever had and were the best possession team in the league. Then we crashed and burned at the beginning of December and haven't looked back. Yeo completely blew up today in practice, tearing the players a new one (which he never does), smashing his stick all over the place and walking out of practice. http://kstp.com/news/stories/S3669275.shtml?cat=1 The biggest problem is a league-worst save percentage, an absolutely atrocious 3rd D pairing, woeful under-performance from some key youngsters (Haula, Coyle, and Granlund), and Yeo completely failing on personnel decisions; some of our most productive players aren't getting the ice time they deserve (Niederreiter) and he's calling up terrible D-men from our AHL affiliate (Bickel, Falk) for "grit" and "toughness" when their are much better players down there that he could bring up (Blum, Dumba). Of course, this also goes back to our GM, who hamstrung the club with a horrible contract for Backstrom, who has a No Trade Clause and a relatively large cap hit, and is extremely reluctant to snatch up a decent 3rd pairing D-man off of waivers or a trade.

I just hope they don't trade away Lucic. Him, Krejci, Chara, Bergy, Dougie and Rask are the only absolute must-keeps on the team in my eyes.
