Lakers have started teams featuring an assortment of Sacre, Ryan Kelly, Wes Johnson, Shawne Williams, Kendall Marshall and Kaman recently....I think that should answer your question. I wouldn't be surprised if Bazemore got a starting gig by the end of the season ![]()

(Homer opinion I know) Lakers record is more indicative of how banged up the roster is. We were sporting a 50% win rate before all of the injuries hit. Kings have been terrible since the start of the season.

And if you are talking pure talent that has been on the floor, then the Lakers have been/are the worst team in the West. But they have won 18 games, which is overachieving for this team. The truth is that most of those games came at the beginning of the season, before Blake's (and Farmar's) injury. Since then, they have easily put out the worst team in the WC on most nights.

I admit to being a Westbrook hater. I think he wants to be the hero when he's obviously the 2nd best player on the team. D-Wade is comfortable playing Robin to LeBron's Batman. I don't think Westbrook is as willing to play Robin to Durant's Batman. I don't blame him. Wade had his turn to be Batman and his body is aging so it's no surprise he has accepted a smaller role that has helped him to win 2 more rings so far. Westbrook hasn't had a chance to be Batman and he doesn't have any rings to make up for it either. Does anyone else get the impression that Westbrook badly wants to be the hero to the point that Durant and Westbrook are competing for FGAs instead of playing together as a unit?

Westbrook is a tremendously gifted, horribly inefficient player. He settles for many long twos from the elbows, which he usually makes at a decent clip, but he hasn't been making these shots recently. I believe that it's likely due to the three (!!) knee surgeries he had in the 2013 calendar year, so it makes sense that he's not as effective. What I don't find an excuse for, however, is how he continues to shoot, as in the example you mention (I didn't watch the game, so I can't attest to the validity of the claim) when Durant has clearly evolved since the 2013 playoffs. If you recall, the offense looked disjointed with Westbrook out and Durant having to make an adjustment on the fly to becoming the primary ball handler, something he wasn't familiar with as Westbrook had never missed a game in their time together. Since their defeat in the next round (IIRC they beat Houston in 7 but folded against Memphis?), Durant has clearly become a better scorer with the ball instead of relying on his spot up and PnR shooting. So where does that leave this whole thing? Durant's not the same guy who needed Westbrook to be effective, and I think the fact that they're clearly not as efficient offensively due to Westbrook's usage coming at an opportunity cost (hello Serge Ibaka and Reggie Jackson!). I think they'll stabilize and return to form, with Westbrook getting healthy and his shooting heating up a bit, but they're going to have to swallow the inefficiency pill until that time, which could cost them the top spot in the West. Remember, this same team was the favorite to make a repeat visit to the Finals last season with a healthy Westbrook, and Jackson, Ibaka, Lamb etc, weren't the players they are now (Durant could even be included here). TL;DR Westbrook just hasn't figured out that there's obvious ring rust. He's played like a dozen meaningful games in the past 10 months or something, so things will eventually return to normal.

Westbrook is a monster player despite his boneheaded greediness. If he had no great players around him, he could make more excuses for his play. But he has the 2nd best player in the league on his team, who shoots from pretty much everywhere at a top tier.
