fantasy basketball is one of those sports where auction is infinitely better than snake.There are like 3-5 really really good players and then it really drops off, so you can get super shafted before the season even starts in snake.

Yup. This is why I prefer auctions as well. Picks 1-4 are solid (CP3, love, durant, lebron) but number 5 has a huge drop off. I'd rather be towards the end of round 1 (and get 2 early picks to build around) than have a 7, 8, or 9 pick. Too much luck based on the draft order IMO.

That time works great for me. Really anytime on Saturday EST works for me.

because it seems it might be next to impossible to find a time for everyone, i would like to make the decision to hold the draft tomorrow sunday @ 745pm EST (GMT -5). sorry to those on the other side of the world if you cannot make it, but must be done to get as much people as we can into the draft.

I think most of the better fantasy rankings had Conley over Lawson. Conley is extremely reliable and steals are probably even harder to come by this year. After doing some more research I think it was the definitely the right choice.

I wonder if there's a concept as diversifying the NBA teams on your fantasy team so that you don't have too many players from the same team. For example if I have three players from the Bucks and they play Miami and Indiana in the same week, a good chunk of my entire lineup takes a hit for that week's fantasy matchup. It might even out as the season goes on but I feel like mixing it up so that the players in your lineup isn't more affected by each other's play more than they should be, can be beneficial.
Also, maybe I'm imagining things but I think playing on a winning team is a significant factor in picking players. It seems generally more difficult to have really off nights when playing on good teams and vice versa.
I have a feeling that none of this actually matters or makes sense mathematically, which I hope is true, and would make me feel better about owning three Bucks players.
Actually now that I think about it I think this makes sense in H2H with a playoff system but not in roto.

That's actually something you should consider when building a team.
One thing you really don't mind is 3 players on a team like the knicks or lakers (if they had 3 worthy fantasy players rofl). This is because they tend to play a lot of off day games (primetime Thursday nights for example). What that leads to is less wasted games on busy nights like Friday where nearly every team is playing.
On the other hand you want to generally avoid 3 players on something like the Cavs because they will almost never get those unique games.
2 players on a team is usually never a big deal.
Another thing you want to factor with multiple players on a team is how many playoff games they have at the end of the season. You don't want to heavily invest in a team like GSW too much. They only play 9 games in the default fantasy playoffs. On the other hand Atlanta plays 12 over the same period. So someone like Stephen Curry will get you similar production as Teague in the playoffs despite how much more valuable Curry is.
Generally speaking, I will avoid drafting a player that has a terrible playoff schedule. Curry/Klay/Lee/Iggy were low on my priority list this year for that reason. This is most important for the big names that are anchoring your team. For a 10th round pick I won't even look at the schedule.
Of course in Roto none of this matter. This is strictly H2H theory crafting.

I'm also wondering how much do you guys determine who to pick up by actually watching the player play, as opposed to going by stats? So far this season I passed on T. Jones and Jordan Hill mainly because I wasn't too impressed by them last year and wasn't convinced they could be consistent, and that I didn't have league pass this year until recently. Of course there are a lot of cases where someone plays really well but don't really make that much of an impact fantasy wise. But this year I think if I did watch them play I would've picked them up sooner instead of trying to wait for a good run of stats.

Combination. Numbers don't lie. But numbers don't tell a complete story, especially for younger players.

Damn it. Not gonna lie... it was pretty dejecting to see Rose go down.. didn't even feel like playing fantasy basketball anymore at that moment. As much as it sucks for me it's really unfortunate for Rose and the Bulls so I really feel for them. Hope they will be able to bounce back next season.. no players should go through this kind of bad luck.
Anyways, I think I'm doing okay without Rose.. it's like my second time playing in a fantasy league so I don't really know what I'm doing.

rose was terrible before he got hurt and even if he wasn't, his peak was probably a 3rd round value player. He was never going to carry anyone's roster.
