the whistle was like 2 or 3 seconds before the goal was shot, i don't get how this comes as "not counting the goal" ...

Again, what was bad about Schweinsteiger's yellow?
It's dangerous play, never matters if he hits the ball or not under that rule

I guess Lahm-Kroos in midfield then.

didn't watch the games as I was on a plane t.t but impressive result from united, especially with it actually being deserved- from the highlights I watched it even seems like they were closer to 2 than bayern were.
and stunning goals in the other match, diego's shot and iniesta's through pass are both incredible.

Very surprised by the United game. Bayern was absolutely dire tonight. So much possession and hardly a goal scoring opportunity of note. United honestly had more clear cut chances to score ultimately and a win would not really have been out of order. Moyes' caution looked like the correct set-up for once, though I don't understand why he doesn't just start Kagawa.
I think the next tie will be very interesting in Munich with Pig and Javi suspended. I figured the tie would have been over tonight, and while Bayern do have the advantage, I could see United nicking it if the game goes in similar fashion to tonight.
United's defense was sound for once. Especially impressed with Butters since I expected him to get mauled tonight by Robben but he acquitted himself well. Bayern on the other hand really need to be more penetrating in their play if they are to win this thing.

As someone who is first a fan of the "sport", i dont care too much who wins as long as the game is fun to watch, and after watching Barca-Atletico and ManU-Bayern it was a really bad day. I understand that Bayern and Barca are really really good and can rip you apart and all but it is just hard to watch if the best solution is to park the bus. What happened to the glorious ManU that is playing more defensive as some mediocre Bundesliga team AT HOME. Atletico looked a bit better and were at the camp nou but still... Sorry for the little rant
On Bay vs Man: Bayern played not their best game but it wasn´t "absolutely dire" or even as some people on the internet starting this "they are overhyped" thing again. Some players didn´t have their best day but bayerns lack of chances was also a result of a very careful approach. The CB´s played relatively deep and the 8th rarely cut into the box. Also they didn´t shoot that much from distance which is also more "safe" because it prevents random situation were the ball gets blocked. If i remember correctly all ManU chances, and the goal, were individual errors Alaba vs Rooney on the wing or the Welbeck chance. I think Guardiolas plan was to control the game, be patient, score a goal at some point and go home with a 1:0. And it almost worked.
I still dont see ManU advancing. Bayern will not play that "bad" twice especially at home and ManU has to play higher to score at least 2 goals (the last game without a scored goal was in April 2012). For defending like this they are ok, but i dont think they have the firepower to score when they have to.

Was I the only one who got the impression that Bayern were purposely playing at like 50-60% today?
Suspensions to Schweinsteiger and Javi came at the right time though. They'll probably go at full pace in Munich and put 4-5 into United's net, then get those players back for a much tougher semifinal.

I think so too, somewhat at least.ManU defended well and didn't give Bayern's players much space to run with the ball into, something both Ribery and Robben excel at. Ribery was pretty anonymous btw, he can probably step up his game. It was a disaster for ManU to concede and draw, it will be difficult in the second leg!
Fellaini. So bad it's hard to resist making his name into one of those silly puns.

No VdW tonight sucks :/ I hope Jallet brings his A++ game tonight. Can't wait for the game though

Bayern did not purposely play at 50%. What are you smoking, lol. They had a bad day and were met by a well organised defense and good counter-striking offensive play. Still a good result for them, but they probably would've rather won the game
So hyped about tonight's games. Dortmund is always crazy, fun to watch, but with all the injuries RM is by far the favourite. I would still be surprised if Dortmund didn't at least score 1 goal (and RM winning 4-1 or some other ridiculous result). PSG-Chelsea tho, wow. What a match. French offensive powerhouse that is always entertaining to watch vs well-rounded (but lacking a decent striker) and versatile Chelsea. Has to be a great match. I'm interested to see how Mou manages to retain possession. I don't think parking the bus will work against PSG, and I don't think he'll try to do that anyway.

Yeah parking the bus when they have 2 tall strikers of ibra cavani quality doesn't really work. Gonna be an awesome game.

Well it would because PSG play 4-3-3 and Cavani is played out wide hence the QQ he made in L'Quippe last night. Cavani is LW and Ibra ST with Lavezzi or whoever RW. Chelsea will counter PSG, and hope (they know) Cavani and Lavezzi or Moura i guess will not track back and the likes of the 3 CMs for PSG will be the only ones protecting a slow back 4. Chelsea will need to score first in that game and will really need to be on form. I hope we get a draw of any kind, goaless or goals galore. A win will be priceless and a defeat a disaster.
Our record at Stamford bridge in knock out games is outstanding so i think we can defiantly grind a result out at home, but it is going to depend on this tie.

I would put my money on chelsea. I still think PSG is maybe a bit overhyped, they haven't played a strong team this season and rely a lot on Ibra. Not saying they are bad chelsea just looks more scary.
Dortmund Real is a no brainer unfortunatly.

Perhaps "absolutely dire" is a bit much but they were quite poor. Bayern dominated the game and dictated play completely but they lacked any creativity to break down United. Although a lot of people complain about Pep's side being boring and wanting to pass the ball into the net, Bayern has had plenty of incisiveness this year and is certainly capable of direct play. They were unable to muster it last night however.
I imagine they will offer something more offensively in Munich, hell, it's hard to be any worse in the final third then they were last night, but I think their defense is a real concern. Welbeck's 1 on 1 miss might overshadow his play last night but he was actually quite excellent. He abused Javi Martinez repeatedly with his pace and he also showed some great technique at times, for example in his disallowed goal. They are really going to need to shore that up if they want to win the CL.
Of course I expect Bayern to go through next week, but I didn't think the tie would be this close.

It depends which Chelsea team shows up. The one that destroys possession football 6-0 or the one that loses to Crystal Palace?
Hoping for the first obviously D:
