He has been playing for a couple of games already but not scoring all that much. He's only #6 on the goal scorer table (http://www.lfp.fr/ligue1/classementButeurs) with 9 goals so far.

Hmm, he hasn't played as many as the others though right? Didn't he like have time off to get married or something?
West Brom have been pretty unlucky with Anelka. He served Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea fine for years. West Brom thought they would pick him up and get a few goals that might save their season out of the ageing striker. Instead he plays a handful of matches scores a couple of goals and then decides to reveal he’s secretly been a massive racist all this time. No one in England knew the gesture was racist but he is French and fully knew what he was doing. Unfortunately for West Brom they have now lost a striker who looked in pretty good form for however long this takes to sort out and lost a big kit sponsor who’s CEO just happened to be Jewish. It’s not going well.
Anyways best luck to them tonight against everton that's a tough game in anyones book.

Can't they fire Anelka for pulling that stuff, that way they might at least keep their sponsor.

I'm not quite sure about the ins and outs of it. Whether they could have chosen to not play him until he apologised or whether they chose to take a more Liverpool approach to the issue. If they could have punished the player and kept the sponsor that probably would have been better for the club. But the news said that the kit sponsorship has pulled out so I guess that's done now.
I think there is some kind of FA investigation that’s taking forever into the issue. But does the club back the player now if there’s no chance of getting the sponsor back? How big is the West Brom Jewish supporters club? It’s a mess basically last thing West Brom needed.
Yeah the sponsorship deal ends after this season. West Brom said they thought the deal would of not lasted beyond the summer anyway. The reason Zoopla are backing out is due to no "action" has been taken against Anelka and the gesture. I too am surprised at no action but oh well. Don't understand why the sponsors are getting involved, imo its just them saying this is our reason for not sponsoring you next season. As it sounds like it was a "rolling" contract type deal. Like said as well he is a good player and hasn't done anything wrong since Bolton and Chelsea times.
Wow Anelka looks in the mood here. Started nicely, nice touches and passes and stuff.

Maybe it's my American naivete.
The gesture might not originally have been racist there's debate about that. But the use of it by whatever that comedians name is definitely intended to be anti-Semitic and intended to offended Jewish people. It’s probably not the right path to go down banning certain gestures or saying you can’t make certain remarks. But that comedian has been all over the news in Europe because of his clearly anti Semitic beliefs displays and performances. So Anelka knew exactly what he was doing when he did it.
I guess he is fully within his rights to believe what he wants and do and say as he pleases. But he represents a football club and the sponsor on his shirt. I can fully understand why there has been the fuss about it there has been.
West Brom played well and had the best of the first half. A real sucker punch (good finish) from Kevin Mirallas gives Everton the lead. West brom's luck continues.
Wow this "Lugano" the ex Uruguayan captain is a pile of crap. Pepe Mel first game and first huge mistake. Playing a 33 year old slow not strong defender vs Lukaku and pacey wingers, good job.
