FIFA World Cup Qualifiers All times in BST + Show Spoiler [Fixtures] + 18:00 Portugal vs Luxembourg Portugal need to beat Luxembourg and hope for Russia to loss, and on top, a 7 goal swing to get top spot. They are guaranteed 2nd place though 17:00 Cyprus vs Albania Dead Rubber 19:45 Republic of Ireland vs Kazakhstan Dead Rubber 19:45 Faroe Islands vs Austria Dead Rubber 20:00 Scotland vs Croatia Dead Rubber 19:00 Hungary vs Andorra Hungary need a win to keep their dream of 2nd place. Andorra are out of contention. 19:00 Norway vs Iceland Iceland need a win to guarantee 2nd place in the group, also the 3 points vs Norway would mean more points for the play off table. Norway are out 19:00 Switzerland vs Slovenia Switzerland are qualified for Brazil. Slovenia need to win and hope Iceland fail to beat Norway to finish 2nd. Also again the 3 points are vital in the play off table. 19:00 Israel vs Northern Ireland Dead Rubber 18:00 Lithuania vs Bosnia-Herzegovina Bosnia are battling Greece for top spot in this group, both teams level on 22points. Simply Bosnia need to better Greece result to finish top. 18:00 Greece vs Liechtenstein Greece have an all mighty goal difference to try and swing if Bosnia win and so do they. The best hope for Greece is that Bosnia fail to win and Greece win. 20:00 England vs Poland England need to win and they finish top of the group, anything other than a win would see them fall into 2nd place and Ukraine top the group. 19:15 Denmark vs Malta Denmark need to win to try and steal 2nd spot in this group, if Bulgaria win though, they would need a 7 goal swing to pip them to 2nd place. 19:30 Serbia vs FYR Macedonia Dead Rubber 19:45 Italy vs Armenia Armenia need to win, then hope the Bulgaria draw and Denmark also draw to stand a chance to steal 2nd spot. 19:45 Sweden vs Germany Sweden could do with a result to make sure they get high as possible in the play off group table 20:00 Belgium vs Wales Dead Rubber 19:00 Romania vs Estonia Romania need to better Turkey's result or hope for a 4 goal swing with Turkey to to beat them to 2nd place. 19:00 Turkey vs Netherlands Need to match Romania's result to guarantee 2nd spot. If they win they are 2nd, unless Romania beat there win by 4+goals 20:00 San Marino vs Ukraine Ukraine need to win, to and hope England fail to win. 20:00 Montenegro vs Moldova Dead Rubber 20:00 Spain vs Georgia Spain need a point to finish top. 20:00 France vs Finland Need to hope Spain lose and then win by 3goals 19:10 Latvia vs Slovakia Dead Rubber 19:15 Bulgaria vs Czech Republic Bulgaria need to win to assure 2nd spot, a draw or defeat make this group wide open. Czech Republic still have a shot of 2nd place, but might not have the points needed to make a decent dent in the playloff league. 18:00 Azerbaijan vs Russia Russia need to avoid a defeat and a 7 goal swing to finish top. 00:30 Uruguay vs Argentina Uruguay desperate for the points to gain automatic qualification and not have to go through play offs. They need a win and hope Chile lose and have 3goal swing. Or a 6goal swing and an Ecuador loss 03:15 Peru vs Bolivia Dead Rubber 02:30 Jamaica vs Honduras Anything but a defeat for Honduras in Jamaica assures them of qualification for Brazil, a defeat leaves the door open for Mexico 02:30 Panama vs USA Panama have a feint hope of a play off spot going. They need to win and hope Mexico fail to win in Costa Rica. 00:30 Chile vs Ecuador Neither side can afford to lose, a point for each team guarantees qualification though! 00:30 Paraguay vs Colombia Dead Rubber 02:30 Costa Rica vs Mexico Mexico need a win to keep a feint hope of automatic qualification alive, as well as guarantee atleast a play off spot. A defeat could let Panama in. African Play Off 1st Leg 20:00 Ghana vs Egypt

Based on the projections of this site, the seeded teams will be Brazil, Spain, Argentina, Colombia, Germany, Italy, SWITZERLAND, and the Netherlands. Blick.ch (swiss "bild"-equivalent) recently posted that switzerland will be seeded if they win their last game and at least one of Italy (vs Armenia), Uruguay (vs Argentina) and Colombia (in Paraguay) does not win. I imagine this will probably futher question the fifa world ranking system.

Croatia being as high as they are baffles me, Colombia being rated as high are they are is an odd one. Brazil being placed so low even though they have been a good winning streak since June (Confed cup). Last one that annoys me is how low Netherlands are, they haven't done anything wrong :S and are outside the top 5, very peculiar. As much as i want to complain as to how high Switzerland are, i can't find any grounds to do so. They have a 6Win 3Draw 0Loss record in their group which is not an "easy" one (nor is it a hard one) is quite respectable so you can't argue them being up their thanks to the idiotic FIFA ranking system xD Maybe a fairer view would be them about 10th, but still, will make for a more entertaining world cup draw :D

I like groups of death because it makes the group stage more interesting than the 2 good 2 bad team set which you can say right after the draw who will advance. Also we could have more underdog stories with that.

Hmm someone in my head is singing "ohne Holland fahren wir zur WM" ![]() + Show Spoiler + A common song in germany with the rivalry between the national teams. It means "without the netherlands we go to the wm (Welmeisterschaft = World Cup)" which comes from the World Cup 2002 were the netherlands werent able to qualify. To get a seeded spot in the world cup group stage draw, it stands as such: Spain, Argentina, Germany, Belgium and Brasil are certain to be seeded. 3 spots left, which will be filled by either Italy, Colombia, Uruguay, Netherlands or Switzerland. For us to get a seeded spot, we have to win against Turkey and I believe 2 of the 4 scenario's have to happen: - Italy lose - Colombia draw/lose - Uruguay draw/lose - Switzerland draw/lose I do think the system works though. We've been playing against pretty terrible teams in qualification and the draw against Estonia probably cost us a lot of points. Winning against poor opposition doesn't land you a lot of points. Still weird how high up Switzerland and Uruguay are though, especially Uruguay who has been doing pretty bad in the qualification. I guess the teams in South America are a bit higher up the ranking though, so less points are lost if you draw/lose against the likes of Chile, Argentina or Colombia. Oh and Turkey definitely has to win against us to get into a play-off spot, otherwise Romania will most likely get it. They'll only need 1 point against Estonia if we beat Turkey.

We must win Czech with more than 3 goals, Netherlands should win Turkey and Slovenia has to make a draw againt Switzerland. Not really possible imo. The rules this year are so stupid, why in the hell Europer loses one spot to North America for the world cup?? The places for the continents are constant since 2006, with the hosting continent always getting an extra free solt for the hosts. What do you mean?

The FA have defended their decision to sell 18,000 tickets to Polish fans for Tuesday night's World Cup qualifier. God dammit >.< i had a feeling this game was going be a borderline home game/equal stadium! 18,000 Polish fans been allowed to purchase tickets, on top of ones that will go anyway is going to make it in the 20 thousands ;_; So sad when a home game gets treated like this! Why on earth would the ENGLISH FA want to burden the task any more by trying to make it a harder game xD Oh well, lets hope Poland don't turn up >.<

Courtois is imo top 5 keeper in the world right now, that alone wins you games. On top of having a similar outfield squad to Colombia minus a Falcao, but Benteke/Lukaku clearly not a bad option. Maybe also Belgium have a better defense in general too.

It's already wrong as that table's prediction was that we would lose vs Croatia and we didn't which puts us ahead of Switzerland and into a seeded place. This should be the top 10 as of friday ![]() So that Blick guy is correct ^^ PS making a decent list/table on TL is a bitch, paint+imageuploader ftw
