Well I thought of both Beckenbauer and England at the same time when I saw the new England shirt so I guess that's a good thing right? It reminds us Germans of 1966 and you guys won that one, maybe you should think of it that way. We are scared shitless, I assure you :D
UEFA are considering giving Europa Cup winners a spot in the Champions League. Haha, if it does happen, it's at the very earliest, 2015. 2 years too late for spurs hehe
edit: scratch that, it's still 4 spots no matter what >.<
I like that idea. Winning the "B cup" to gain a place in the big boys' club sounds good to me. Also, it'd give the bigger teams that fall out a better incentive to play in the EL.

That team is gonna be amazing. Glad to see that Yaya Sanogo made the call as well.
Dortmund bought for 8.5m the cb Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Werder. His class means that he's going to be a starter and that also means that Hummels is off for a bigger club. Come to barca pl0x!

If they do that I guess the Europa League spot would take precedence over a top 4 spot, like Chelsea's spot this season.

They have to create an extra slot for the Europa League winner, in my opinion. Imagine if a team from England, Germany, or Spain wins the Champions League and the Europa League. You're going to exclude third AND fourth from the Champions League?
Edit: Sorry, I meant "wins the CL and EL and finishes outside the top 4." Extremely unlikely, but it could happen.

agree i feel sorry for the team who will miss CL because of this

too many greek defenders in the bundesliga, i got him confused with Kyriakos Papadopoulos for a second.

Why? It's called the Champions League. It's supposed to be comprised of teams that won something the previous season. The Europa League is only meaningless because of UEFA's expansion of the European Cup (CL). Giving it some of its prestige back can only be a good thing.
edit: I understand the financial implications of CL qualification, but it's hard to say that a 4th place league team deserves it more than a team that wins a major trophy. Creating extra slots makes the whole thing too complicated in my opinion. The current Europa League is complicated enough!

supposed? but in reality there are a lot of teams that placed 2nd-4th in their domestic leagues and playing in the Champions League. And you can't say these clubs don't deserve to compete for European Trophies. For example MU and MC won EPL and couldn't pass the group stage in CL, Chelsea was 3rd and 5th in England and won two EuroCups in a row...
