I've always found it strange that transfer sums are always reported first, while they don't necessarily mean much...it's all about the length left on the contract, the age of the player, etc. Would be much better to see salaries first.
Because ultimately those other tangibles are not a negotiation between clubs its between club and player. How BOTH clubs comes of the transaction relatively is a bigger deal then how 1 player and one club is affected at least in the immediate future.
A transfer sum of 1.7m of the bat says alot of things with respect to Spurs and Schalke's positions now rather than what may happen, it may or not may say very much about Holtby except that hes a better player than that.
Sure the other figures are important, no doubt and very often they may end up affecting a trade more than most people realise but in the end info on personal terms will usually be in proportion to how much the transfer cost is.
Also and perhaps most importantly depending on how cynical your view is, reporting stuff like personal terms is a) harder and takes longer to dig out
b) that sucks for tabloids because if you didnt report it first you didnt report it and everyones racing to get any news they can.

His composure in the first and third goal is absolutely grand. The patience in the first goal is something only he would do and it was a great dummy. Every goalkeeper would assume he would strike it instantly so the goalkeeper made himself as big as he could. Messi realises it instantly and finishes it like that.
Third goal again, great balance, great composure, not a lot of strikers who could have scored it that way. It looks easy but it's hard as fuck. The footwork, the ball control and the ability to turn that fast is what sets him apart here.
Fourth goal he was under pressure by a lot of defenders, but I agree, that was a tap-in. I don't think many people underrate the way Messi scores. His goalscoring is for me the most impressive part for me. Especially lobs Well a common complaint is theres apparantly an absense of "glam" in Messi's goals. Whatever the hell thats supposed to mean, apparantly being automatic anywhere within or around the box and making it look easy isnt as valuable as taking 50 pot shots before one of the volleys stick and look cool when they hit the back of the net. As you said, I think part of it has to do with how easy he makes it look. Another part is probably down to the fact that they know very little or nothing about football, or they already carry a dislike of Messi due to whatever reasoning (rival player/team/being a hipster...etc). Anyone who knows anything about football appreciates his mastery at goal scoring. The movement, the positioning, the timing, the composure, the shot selection & execution... it's all first class, and it comes so naturally to him.

Leroy Fer sounds like a replacement for Fellaini if he leaves in the summer, I guess.

Great player. Have had my eyes on him ever since his season at Mainz. Not sure what the rush is, though, as Spurs have plenty of attacking players already. Maybe injures? It's there manager, he is kinda crazy. Sigurdsson never players anymore, and well last season he was the reason Swansea finished so high, had chance to go to Liverpool where he arguably would of played more. Huddlestone doesn't play and is wasting his talent there Parker is overated and adds nothing in the offensive half of the pitch Sandro is even more overated and is just plain bad in that position Livermore is too young and is not getting enough games Townsend doesn't look up for it yet. Then there only decent CM in Dembelele has been injured, and plays when is isn't but with the way they play with only 2 CMs i can't see him playing both Holtby and Dembelele in the same 11, so....not sure AVB is great, imo. I love that he builds for the long haul and the purchases under him have been amazing. Lloris, Dembele, Vertonghen stands out. I never considered Huddlestone, Parker, Sandro or Livermore as offensive players, really. I thought Sandro had a good season until he got hurt. Good tackler to have, but as you say he's not great offensively. Parker is a good midfielder, but clearly getting up there in age. Good passing and vision and good work rate. Livermore and Townsend are still young so they have time to improve, and Livermore is a defensive midfielder anyway. Offensively they have Dembele (although most of what I've seen of Spurs this season - which admittedly isn't much - he's being used more defensively) Lennon, Bale, Dempsey, Bentley (though he never gets played, does he? lol great crosser, though), Sigurdsson, Townsend and Falqué (at loan in Spain) and youngsters Mason and Carroll. And now they have Holtby. Tons of attacking options. I thought they'd be buying defensively as neither Huddlestone or Livermore is good enough, and Parker is rather frail.
Yeah but like i said, where do they all play? Bale is LW/LM Lennon is RW/RM They will start every game they are fit Dempsey AM off Defoe is the best option imo That leaves 2 CM spots. 1 for a defensive type. Parker/Huddlestone/Sandro 1 for a passing/flair midfielder. Dembelele/Townsend/Livermore/Holtby
Pretty confident that Holtby is no where near the level of Dembele yet, so that will leave him sat on the bench? That doesn't seem a good decision.

It's rumored that the reason Twente were so quick to sell Fer is because he may face a court case for something he did during his Feyenoord period and Twente wanted nothing to do with it. Johan Derksen, a prominent sport dutch journalist, also mentions that it was more than just going through a red light.
Juicy!

That gossip!!! Lol be hilarious if was true haha

I thought last season Scott Parker was incredible. He was instrumental in Tottenham getting the 3rd spot and holding it over christmas. When he is fit and playing in a team that doesn't require him too much for attack, he is great at harrying the opposition and screwing up their play. He's not as classy as Makelele was but he is a great cover for the defence.
I think AVB's signings have been a mixed bag. I think he signed Holtby so he has proofing against injury and squad depth in the AM role, which a lot of clubs are doing nowadays. I mean Man City and Man U both load up on strikers so they have injury proofing and the ability to rotate when the massive amount of games that English teams have to participate in starts to grind your squad down. A team like Newcastle was absolutely battered by that. And everyone has seen what happened to Arsenal last season with the retarded amount of injuries. Both Chelsea and Tottenham are light on strikers but they both have masses of AM options for this reason.

Well he was/is connected with a gang in Rotterdam and one of his friends got shot about half a year ago. So people's imaginations are going wild on this one, would be a big bummer for Everton if their new signing got sentenced to prison.
How would a club deal with that?

Haha, i know right. They have to by just face value of the club to dis own him, or they will find themselves slated by the press etc.
Joys of being in England with the "lets all jump on the morale high ground" train/wagon whatever the saying is ^_^

Now a part of me just wants this to be true, just to see what the outcry is going to be like! Haha ^_^.

Well it's all just rumours at the moment. It could all just be that Fer needs to testify in a court case involving some of his (former) friends.

Schalke have confirmed the signing of Michel Bastos on loan from Lyon until 2014.
Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli has agreed a four-and-a-half year deal with AC Milan.

Chelsea and Liverpool look set to suffer setbacks courtesy of Bayern Munich's grand transfer plans
The German powerhouse will have a colossal £238m transfer budget to spend on players in the summer, and newly appointed coach Pep Guardiola has his heart set on Luis Suarez and Radamel Falcao

Oh my holy jesus god. 238 million transfer budget is IN FUCKING SANE. I wonder how much Suarez would cost, he doesn't have a release clause does he? Could be another chance for Liverpool to make Torres-level money, and then perhaps spend it properly lol!!! I wouldn't settle for anything less than 50 million for Suarez if I were Lpool.
I really hope QPR get a result against Man City. All London rivalries aside I just want great players to be in the prem. QPR has some great great players.
