It's well known in England that the carling cup is meaningless and more a hindrance to large clubs who play champions league and are contesting for the EPL, it's a good cup to play some young lads etc but no big team takes it seriously, when Gerrard brought the trophy out at Anfield last year he was almost embarrassed. So to get knocked out of it is a blessing for larger clubs.

That actually has happened once, think it was while he played for Werder Bremen, in a game against Arminia Bielefeld. Got awarded a penalty, told the referee it wasn't a foul. Ironically, some referees said after reviewing the video material, that it actually was one.
He is an icon of sportsmanship. Great person. If only there would be more of that kind.
