This site is so cool!
You collect experience points for completing and logging in a work out. You have quests, such as completing a Lat, Chest, and Bicep workout all within a week, or doing a certain amount of weight on the bench press freeweight with 5 reps.
It's a nerd workout motivation, come do it with me. My name is Aberu. It's in beta testing mode, we should all help them out, give suggestions, Teamliquid people are so smart.
Btw I searched for fitocracy, and got nothing so I figured I was the first one to post about this.

Somebody get InControL on this! Our points as a team would skyrocket!
ATTENTION: Anyone that joined the site already, post your invite codes so we can have a nice horde of people to join our TeamLiquid.net team!

nah, im a nerd. i'd rather play starcracy and log in to get points to help me climb the ladder. not a real ladder mind you, but a bracket type ladder. in doors. while sitting
I like the site and everything, but I can't find a way to make a username without linking it to facebook or twitter or something. Am I just blind or...?
I ignored the 3rd part of the setup. It didn't complain at all.

It's a good idea, you need an invite to join though

Thanks a lot Registered.

I requested an invite, hopefully I get in! If I do I'll post a link for more people to get invites.

Let's keep everyone motivated!

Invite Codes
Just made the account so I have all the codes left!
It's a little hard sometimes to figure out the names of the exercises in english thought, does anyone have a tip on a site that translates the exercise names?
Moar invite codes.
Just signed and joined the TL group. Was planning to do a lot of exercise this summer, wonder what level I can get :p
I'm in. Thanks for the invite. This looks great.
Thanks for those invite codes guys! Appreciate it!~
Haha, this is interesting, I signed up and joined the TL group. The only problem is that I don't know the names of the exercises even in my language, let alone in english.
Invite code if they are still needed.
Hah, this is neat! I joined the group. If you are unsure what the exercises are called, then there is http://www.exrx.net/. Which has an amazing database on all sorts of exercises and their names in english.

I'm in, logged my first workout - Only lvl 2 not a beast like Stormer :p
Joined the TL group as well, super-cool site thanks to the OP!
Stormer is indeed a beast. Going to add those other invite codes right now thanks for contributing guys!
so i've joined (and used up lunchrush's Invite Code)
only logged my last workout on monday. looks like fun!
good stuff. it is quite fun but it needs more quests though.
lol I dont see myself completing a lot of those quests tbh. looks more tailored towards bodybuilders than weight/powerlifters I might be wrong though
also, I get more points if I log a 170kgx1 deadlift five times than for a single set of 170kgx5 deadlift no comment
and I cant get achievements for some reason
yep.
There's a quest that says
"lift 135x10 in the big 3 lifts"
that 135lbs x 10" is my warmup set in squat
good stuff I will start updating again, im in second place

Ya one of my friends, and one of my old college roommates are the founders of this site.
I just joined the TL group. Fitocracy is great for motivation purposes, highly recommended.
They have a ton of things they're still expanding, and its already so much better a service than their alpha version.
Props to xenowang and mr. talens (founders)
xenowang is a sc2 player too.
There are a ton of quests they are planning on adding, and eventually they're going to expand the class system so its more like a mmo (bodybuilders, cross trainer, long distance runner, power lifter).

What he said, everything I had read about the potential has me excited, it's in Beta so if you think it sucks, remember it's nowhere near what it is planned to be so far. Tell em why you think it sucks and take part and make it great.

This is pretty awesome, I saw it on kotaku a couple days ago. Just came back from my first workout in a long time, at 1:30am ^^. Do more quests get unlocked as you go up levels? I see novice quests etc so I assume intermediate to advanced are to follow?
edit: kotaku or reddit i cant remember

If anyone has any extra invites they don't want to make totally public but are willing to give out to strangers, I would really like to try this. I would greatly appreciate that invitation. I definitely don't work out as much as I should. Having something like this will probably be a great motivator with what a huge nerd I am. Guess I'll be stalking this thread until then.
Got an invite thanks guys

I'm #16 as the site only lets me log back to Tuesday -_-
Apparently, I get ~800 pts on the days that I go to the gym...

Here's another code: http://ftcy.co/mzYw5B
There's a few things that this site badly needs: -an Android/iOS app -better ways to find the different exercises
For people who aren't fitness buffs or native english speakers finding the different exercises isn't easy because you don't know them by name. So an index by trained muscles with pictures would be extremely helpful.

I just played a full game of field hockey, and it only gives me 192 points!
I went for a half hour run the day before and it gave me 650. What the fuck? Do they not understand how much running you have to do? Constant stop start sprinting, its left me completely knackered.

Just joined, can't figure out the invite code bit but looks great, good way to log workouts, not big on the social network aspect but it is good fun without that

Hey guys, would someone PM a code for trying this out? I would really appreciate it... Thanks!

I just joined fitocracy and I'm looking to lose weight with my fiancee, we think this will be a fun way to get healthier. I couldn't find an invite code in this thread that still worked so I found my own; I performed this search on google: "?invite_code=" fitocracy site : reddit.com (no spaces before and after colon)
and found this invite code (still works): http://www.fitocracy.com/register/?invite_code=W2K4A
Here's my own invite code for new users (edit: sorry all gone): http://www.fitocracy.com/register/?invite_code=BNKND

I found this by googling "fitocracy invite codes" and though I really wanted a code, I also didn't want to be a huge jerk by stealing one from someone who's actually part of this site... So here's my invite code: http://ftcy.co/oOnWCO
Hopefully nobody thinks I'm a huge jerk, and I apologize in advance if anyone does.

thank you here's mine http://ftcy.co/oWYWcp
Just tried to log the workout I did this evening. How the hell do I log all of this + Show Spoiler [rant] +15'30" warm up jog (2.5 km) 10' of various strength and stretching exercises. This included push-ups, forming a straight line with your body while resting on your feet and lower arms... about 10 different things. I barely know the name of any of them. 15' of all sort of running drills 4 x 80 m acceleration 8 x 100 m sprint 17' jog (2.5 km) Now my problems: I can log the push-ups, but that's the only exercise I know the name of. I'm doing things like this but I couldn't find "running drills", or "skips" or anything like that in the list. I'm doing these sort of things for 10, sometimes 20 minutes and I can't even add them to the workout. (I can't really add 30 x 30 meters and 900 meters in 15 minutes is also ridiculous (or 1800 since I'm walking back)) My 80 meter times look ridiculous since I'm starting really slow. I see no way to add a number of reps, so do I have to copy 7 times for the 8 x 100 meter? If I'm doing HIIT, there's also no way to log the rest in between, or even in what order I did everything... My workout yesterday was 4 x 60m, 2 x 150m, 2 x 200m, 50 100 200 300 400 300 200 100 50 m. All with a different about of rest in between (usually 100 or 200 m walk), as well as a 15 minute warm up and cool down, plus 10 minutes of running drills. This is going to take up more time to log than to actually do it. I'll just go do some push-ups, that's easy to enter and gives me some more points.
Seth: Push-ups barely give any points! That silly 100 pushups program I'm doing leaves me lying dead on the ground every other day, and then I get about 50 pts, but if I run at a snail's pace for 20 minutes, I get 300? What weird kind of scam is being run here?!
And if you don't have a set schedule for doing interval training it is indeed quite onerous to feed it to the bloody form, but I'll be damned if I'm going to schedule my trainings for the benefit of this silly website :p
Been using the site for 3 days and its pretty awesome. The points are arbitrary and that's ok with me, its not about that. Getting achievements is pretty cool, much better than in games because you had to work for it.

The difference between a set of X and a set of 1 is negligible... I think an additional rep is like +1 or +2 pts... lol

Up to you. I log them. It's for yourself. Points on fitocracy is just an added motivation, and you should use it as such.
I log my exercises in spurs, and I can only go back one week maximum, so I'm missing tens of thousands of points lol

Do you work out at PAC?
It's actually one of the best gyms I've been to. Lots people who are serious about lifting too, and the trainers actually know what they are talking about, at least the ones I've talked to.

Yeah I like training there. I see a lot of regulars there who are deadlifting 300+lbs. Thankfully, there's enough bros with fuckarounditis that I usually don't have to wait to do squats.

As far as I know, this is valid and its the reason we're doing 5x5 and not 1x25.

On September 30 2011 02:26 Hurricane wrote: What are the thoughts on logging warm up reps? I never write them down because it's a warm up, but I see people logging them.
I didn't log warm ups at first, but after I realized that my warm ups were worth more points than my work sets, I caved in.
Points for sets are calculated by extrapolating your 1RM based on weight and number of reps, which is reasonable. For example, someone who can do 135x5 should be able to do 152x1 so the two are worth the same number of points. The problem is that points for increasing weight scale linearly so you can score way more by doing five singles of 135 instead of a set of five. If points scaled exponentially, however, newbies would get like 100 points per workout and experienced lifters would get 10,000. Alternatively, they could just assign points by total weight lifted (then 1x5x135 == 5x1x135), but that would simply favor doing tons of reps at light weight.
Ultimately the entire site is on the honor system so worrying about cheating the numbers is kinda irrelevant.

Is there a way to log weighted chinups/pullups?
click on advanced options right under the last rep
Lol, they sure give a lot of points to weighted chin-ups, maybe too many points.
Btw, used your invite Hurricane Here is my invite link: http://ftcy.co/nCA2vL
Took someones on the previous page don't remember whos' tho.
And here's my invite link: http://ftcy.co/pD67ZP
Thanks! Used the code above
Anyone got an Invite code left? I would love to test it out but all codes seem to be used up :O
Pm'ed you the code, I got 8 left. Those codes above are all used up so quickly cause we are the first result in google for "fitocracy invite code".
Anybody have any spare invite codes, by chance?
Can someone provide me with an invite code? Thank you in advance :D.
Interesting. If anyone has a code to share for a fellow gamer, it would be greatly appreciated!

yeh i think only 2/10 people who used my invites were actually from tl.net -.- but one of them was malinor so its all good i guess
Hey...anyone have a code I can have?
The only problem i have with fitocracy is that i don't use the english names for most of the exercises i do which makes typing in my stats a bit troublesome.

I PM'd you last)chance, but incase you don't have anymore, I would still like one.
Thank you

I've been really interested in ARG systems for a while and just found this. As a health enthusiast, I'd love to give it a try if anyone can PM me a spare invite code.
Edit: Got one! Thanks Meat!
cnn mentioned fitocracy in this article about gamers who turn into fitness geeks because of how their gaming skills translate to their workouts
Anyone got an invite code for a TLer? haha yes I'm playing the "even a noob TLer is better than those google-finding peasants" card.
j/k, I'm sure you guys are cool.
I pm'd Autofire2 and Antipathy with two of my codes, got still some left for fellow TLers.
(Thanks again for my Invite, meat <3!)

If anyone still has a spare invite, I would like one. Thanks! edit: Never mind, found an invite link that still worked. Not sure when it will expire. http://t.co/UtFSNKt9
The guys who come from google to ask for invites could at least provide their links to invite more people.
Anyone still have a spare key to toss away?

I was curious about this too, I saw an article on it a couple of months ago, but it's tough to get an invite. Anything to get motivated to go to the gym, I suppose.
Would like to try. PM please with invite! Also looks like all the invites in OP are used up (not surprisingly, given TL's obscene amount of traffic)
I'd love an invite code. This looks very interesting to me. PM me please.
Since Liquid`Meat was gracious enough to show me some love to get me on this website, anybody else looking for a code can just send me a PM, I'd be more than happy to help them out (provided they're actually TLers and not people who made their accounts yesterday).
I just found out about this from my friends and we've all been talking about looking for something to keep us motivated to stay fit haha. Unfortunately there aren't enough invites to go around between us though. If anyone else has any extra invites I'd love one!
I still have some invites to share, so if you are a fellow TLer and want a code, then feel free to pm me
If your account is new, then please don't bother to ^^" (I got a giant amount of PMs from guys that had registered 3 minutes ago with zero posts ~.~)
Hey, i wasted all my invites posting here before i knew people were coming from google for them, could someone pm me one? I got interested friends.
Yo
So Fitocracy just made group invite codes (we have 100), so if you want into Fitocracy just pm any of the TL Fitocracy members and we can give you the group code. Plus it saves you the (30sec) hassle of joining the TL group :p
If you haven't joined you should, it's mucho cool
Could someone PM me a code?

yeah if anyone has a code left i'd like it PM'd thanks

Would someone be able to PM me a code please?

Will join the TL group as soon as I have an invite :-) Many people in there? Any open invites?
I'd love to join as well - could anyone shoot me an invite? Thanks!!
I'd like to join this site as well if anyone has an extra invite.
Right now I'm just doing exercises to lose weight so I'm not really trying to lift as much as I can or anything else but I do keep track of the exercises I do with excel... might be easier and/or more fun with this.
Biggest problem with this might be the exercise names. I do some things that I have no name for so I'm not sure how I will put them up. I kind of made up my own names for them.
Overall I'm not sure how much use I will make of such a site but it could add some extra motivation at least.
*Edit : Thanks for the invite. I'll leave said person nameless to avoid them getting bothered by others.
hey can i get an invite i exercise at least once a day sometimes more if time permits so id like to have something to keep track of it thanks in advance
It helps if you guys can edit your posts when you get an invite.
yea I'm sure people have received invites from tons of people lol
Any chance I could get an invite from someone? Thanks got one
edit: i have 6 invites left, pm me if u want one. cheers
Mod edit: If we post the link in public, every tom dick and harry that is looking for an invite and can use google will find it. Rather PM it to TL members asking for an invite.
Also have 10 invites to spare. PM me
Hey all!! Just wondering if anyone had an invite for Fitocracy I could grab? pm me please. Thanks
Looking for an invite as well! Anyone have any left?
I've got invites for anybody who didn't join in the last week and has triple digit posts
I could use an invite, just got back into weightlifting after a while off, and this seems like it'd be a BLAST.
Would love to be pm'ed an invite to this. I've gotten back into lifting and I'm challenging myself to potentially get into figure bodybuilding or modeling. I think that this would be a cool way to have some fun along the way
Edit: got my invite
Does anyone have an invite they could send my way? Thanks in advance.

Can you really only track activities 5 days into the past? I plan to go ski touring for a week and would hate to miss out on the levelling.
Also what is the number on the red star thing next to my name at the top? It says "8" currenty, and I have no idea what it's supposed to do. I can't click it and it doesn't align with any other numbers on the site.
The red thing is your 'notifications' like in facebook. It's weird that you can't click it. Maybe try clicking on your photo rather than directly on the red circle thing.
Can I get an invite? Its the most motivating website Ive seen.

Just log them on incorrect days and you'll still get the points for them.

yes you can
I assume the number in the red circle? that shows how many notifications you have (like every time someone gives you props, comments on your activity or follows you you get a notification)

I use it like a better facebook group for tl h&f friends. I don't really care about the levels or the achievements, they're really arbitrary.

I have given Liquid'Meat administrative responsibilities of the Teamliquid.net Fitocracy group! Sorry I hadn't been doing much with it at all, I feel bad, I had completely forgotten about it!
There's not much to administrate.
Personally I feel the challenges Fitocracy added are kinda dumb. I, like most everyone else, am on a program, and I'm not going to drop my program just to compete in a pointless challenge. I don't see how a challenge can fit with everyone's programs and still be "fair" other than something silly like "see who gets the most points in a week." (Even that would just encourage overtraining)
Thanks for adding me to the administrators list, don't worry about being inactive. I just took a look at the options and I'm not going to change anything. As ShadowDrgn said, those challenges are kinda pointless and I doubt many TL'ers care about it. If there is demand I can add a challenge like who can bench or deadlift the most.

I think the challenges are, much like the rest of the site focused on getting people who are not already regular gym goers to be more active. While I would have no use for them, I can see them being great tools for a lot of people that I am friends with - maybe i'll use up some of my ten invites on those people.
Just wanted to drop by this topic though, and say that I'm going to be active now, and stop dropping the average of the group. Got the site bookmarked, and I've used it after every workout this week. Should be fun.
I signed up and it's pretty good, though their interface isn't exactly the best.
Hey everyone, I just found out about fitocracy and it looks awesome! Does anyone have any invites left??

I am allready motivated, I log my workouts on paper and I can talk to you guys on TL. Would fitocracy benefit me at all?
I have 10 invites. PM me an email if you want one.

9 left, pm email if anyone want one
I was kind of skeptical the first time I heard about it, but I tried it out and it's pretty addictive haha. The tracking is pretty simple which is nice.
Do you need invites I am pretty sure I just signed up?
Haha I am not sure how that questions is directed. I am not sure if you need an invite, I was invited to join but I didn't try beforehand to see if I could do it without. Do say something if you're able to without one so others know

Don't need that. I bench press 220 pounds with my mates on Sundays and run 3km under 14 minutes twice a week. I'd appreciate a resource to prevent a heart attack or heart valve disease. Damn, I've aged at my 26 O_o. Got some city miles on myself.
