I know I'm spamming this with a lot of paleo stuff, but I need some help.

What are your go-to foods? I need to tell my mom some stuff to buy- what should I ask her to get?

Berries, nuts, meats, canned tuna, salad, veggies... Anything else?

haha, what is this thread TL Beauty Contest haha??? Sweet funkie, have you got a dem girlfriend or are you a single latino bro? Feelsgoodman to be complimented by girls!!!!

Edit: In contrast to above-post's video, I for myself, am grateful that I have internet, that I came to TL.net, and that someone decided to do the TL H&F Initiative in 2010. That thread completely changed my life in the spawn of 10 months. I had to take my ego, throw it out, and start reading and taking advice from such awesome people as eshlow (who's the greatest mthrfkcr ever, he helped me recover from my abductors and I'm better than ever now, thx!), decaf, sJarl, dimsum, shallow, Rosa and a bunch others who already know stuff, but still strive for more.

I am thankful, very very thankful that internet was there, to be my "engine starter". and Here I am, 10 months later, in the best shape of my life, lifting as heavy as I can, and feeling healthier and happier than ever.

Cheers to Internet.

Feeling the exact same thing, so much bro love to this entire thread

Ah yeah, forgot about those. Thanks. I'm coming to love them. They fill me up so fast, one of the only things that I sometimes can't finish.

Edit: Oh, the OP. I guess I glanced at it when I first joined TL, but didn't pay much attention to it. Thanks again, tehe.

On a double-posting side-note, I can't for the life of me understand why the military still measures physical fitness through push-ups and sit-ups. FUCK. Where's the combat effectiveness of doing 90 push-ups but being 6'0 150lbs?

well, most of the work done in the military isn't combat

it's carrying/lifting/moving stuff and your body for extended durations. push ups are an incredibly practical endurance exercise.

how much combat do you think is hand to hand in the military anyways -.-

I found this site about paleo dieting. It's kind of interesting, but i'm not too sure of the accuracy.

fatty meats, other fish, chicken is ok I guess, eggs (well, semi-paleo), uncured bacon is pretty good, sweet potatoes as already mentioned

Good sources of fat = butter, coconut, ghee, avocados,

This should have been asked before, but what are some good chest and shoulder exercises that you can do at home? I've been doing some weight lifting and push ups recently but not really following a strict routine. I plan on going to the gym at least twice a week now starting from next week.

Thanks in advance TL!

parallel bar dips and bench dips and handstands.

edit: also i heard bench dips arent good for your shoulders if you go below parallel i think.
someone clarify?

It's up you but aim for the 3-4 set range and 5-10 rep range.
so like 3 sets of 8 dips.
If you do more than 8 then add weight like dumbells/ higher incline for dips i think.

I'm not referring to hand-to-hand combat, but rather general battlefield operations. You have to carry ammo boxes, that's lifting heavy shit. You throw on the ruck sack, it's walking with heavy shit. You fall over with your ruck sack on, you do a single, weighted push-up to get on your feet. You do a single, weighted pull-up to get over a wall.

It completely boggles my mind because the Canadian Combat Fitness manual is derived almost entirely from Crossfit, and actually promotes Olympic lifting/compound movements/etc. (and I'm far from a Crossfit fanatic, but I still think this is better), whereas the actual physical fitness tests are how many sit-ups you can do in two minutes. It's not practical. Sit-ups as an exercise are useless, and to be tested on them, and thus required to PRACTICE a useless exercise to grease the groove, is even more useless.

I'm not knocking bodyweight training or anything, don't get me wrong. I know that's your passion and that you're quite good at it.

holy sugar, after my first day of 'proper' squats with the freebar...I am feeling it most heavily in my lower back muscles. I guess this makes sense, I work out every other muscle group involved much more because of my deadlift handicap . Still, squatting felt great even if I had to be quite humble and kick down 20kg from my smith machine weight.

No, going below parallel is fine if your technique is good. Below parallel on bench is very bad if you're doing it wrong. Fine if you're doing it right.

Hmm, generally should feel squatting more in the legs unless your back is really a weak link wihch is certainly possible.

Try to sit back more and get the weight more onto the heels which will help keep torso more upright and minimize strain on the back and let your glutes and such do more of the lifting

Yeah, I assume it's mostly flexibility. I have done like 4 snatch workouts and most reps with only the bar. I am optimistic, and can't wait till the shoes arrive. Your linked workout is just awesome, must have felt awesome after all those missed attempts to finally get the weight up.

What exactly do the weight shoes do for you? I'm looking at some pictures and they look like normal sneakers. It looks like you can use converse shoes too lol.

What do you guys think of this bodyweightcoach website? http://www.bodyweightcoach.com/01/l-sit-parallette-core-strength/ . I've been watching their videos and I really like the way to guy takes his time to explain every little detail, which is great for people like me who simply do not know how to prepare for these exercises. I'm just curious to hear from eshlow or someone who does bodyweight stuff often.

I take back what I said about doubting bodyweight training earlier, it's actually a pretty humbling experience to try it for the first time and fail miserably lol. The exercises are a lot of fun if you take the time to figure out how to do them. Seems more like a skill than just strength training, plus I feel like I'm trying to breakdance whenever I prop myself up into the air for those exercises.
