RAZER LAUNCHES ELITE APPAREL OF CHAMPIONS
Team Razer celebrates dominance with brand new e-Sports apparel for its professional gamers
For Immediate Release:
CARLSBAD, Calif. – Nov. 8, 2012 – Razer, one of the world’s pioneering supporters of e-Sports, is celebrating the success, dominance and growth of its elite pro-gaming division, “Team Razer,” with the launch of a brand new line of clothing designed with its professional gamers in mind.
Razer has sponsored professional gamers for 12 years, starting with one of the most recognizable names in the industry, Jonathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel. As e-Sports transformed over time, so did Razer, culminating today with more than 50 teams on Team Razer—the world’s largest, most successful group of cyber athletes in the world.
Inspired by the Green Jacket in golf’s US Masters, we’re celebrating the continued dominance of Team Razer across all things e-Sports with the launch of our new Team Razer gear, reserved only for the highest performing members of Team Razer.
1. Team Razer Gear: awarded to those outstanding members of Team Razer who are true ambassadors of e-Sports and in recognition of their status as elite members of their particular game. These individuals have earned their Team Razer Gear through great results in their respective disciplines and through contributions to their communities.
2. Team Razer Champion Jacket: Only champions will earn this jacket. Those entitled to this apparel will have competed in events around the globe with major victories under their belts. Those donning the elite pro-gaming gear are the top ambassadors of Team Razer and e-Sports.

first place victories ?

They look pretty sick! I like the idea of them.
|
Kinda reminds me of the Varsity jacket I had in high school.
I like the huge logo on the right arm.
|
Shouldn't this fall under advertising guidelines and need to be a sponsored thread?
|
Those jackets look really nice.

except they're not selling anything but their brand.

Yeah, they're not selling anything, it's just a press release to inform you that they will be selling these products very soon.

gotta admit that jacket does look nice..
|
There is a ridiculous amount of legacy behind the Masters and their jackets its kind of weird to be pulling any sort of inspiration from it...
regardless, that's interesting.

Where the hell is Leenock if we're talking about Razer-sponsored champions?
|
Does this jacket come with DRM and online logins?
|

As much as results speak, I think what they focus more on is popularity, and unfortunately for leenock, I think the others win in that regard(at least hero and DRG do, not sure about violet).
|
Wow. I'm really glad it's elite. I seriously doubt Razer will ever let NORMAL fans get a hold of this stuff, but I for one would really like some hats and clothes and bags.
I'm also happy that they don't let just any elite players wear the apparel because I'm not the biggest fan of those players, but reserve it for the champions. It sounds like a little distinction but getting the champions "chip" is never a small thing.
Well done Razer, and I hope you let your fans get more involved someday!

Actually we won't be selling these. As the press release states, they are reserved solely for our professional players of the highest caliber.
Please also note that we will be awarding further jackets in the next few weeks - Leenock may well appear in this list!

Do you have to be connected to the internet for the clothes to work?
|
Will these be customized for the teams/players? I don't think other sponsors would like a jacket that covers the standard jersey with their logos on it :o

Damn you, I was about to ask whether it required an internet connection.

Love this post, love this gear! Happy to have you guys as a sponsor

nice reaction on the spy allegations.
I like it looks cool :D
|
I would never wear one of those jackets in public
|
I think we are the wrong audience if these products will not be available for sale. I mean the products looks pretty neat but if we cannot purchase them, why are you doing this press release for us?

No Arnstein, like Synapse 2.0 the jackets have an offline mode.

I don't think it'll be an issue, not every member of a team wears their jackets simultaneously.

They're only awarded to champions, I wouldn't worry about it.

Indeed.
It's only a question of when Leenock will receive his. We all know he's going to get one.
As for the actual track jacket. I wouldn't be dying to get my hands on one. At least it's much better compared to all the other team apparel we see when it comes to SC2 teams.
I'm still waiting for several teams to update their look and be more fashionable.

Honestly, if the jackets are for "Champions" at least give the kids proper "Champion Jackets".

I wonder if it's too late to toss one SlayerS'BoxeR's way now that SlayerS is dead and he isn't sponsored by Razer anymore...Though I guess BoxeR doesn't really need a Razer jacket to prove he's a boss.
|
I don't get it, there is no "Team Razer", are these players getting payed for using this as a standalone deal? Is razer actually giving this away or are they enforcing the use of it in return for sponsorship money seeing as not every Razer sponsored champion is getting it?
And the obvious one, does the jacket stop heating if you unplug it from the internet? (couldn't resist)
I dunno, this is fishy at best and seems like some sort of desperate move after the spyware fiasco.

Oh i was just curious if there could be a situation where e.g Leenock sits in the booth at GSL with his razer jacket on and FXopen say "wait a minute, you can't see our logo." I guess I'm taking things too far, haha.
|
I know this is marketing, and I'm ok with that but this concept of team razer is really weird to me. Especially this: " ulminating today with more than 50 teams on Team Razer—the world’s largest, most successful group of cyber athletes in the world" I know this over top way seem the way to go for "gaming" targeted harware company, but that really rubs me the wrong way.

I really like the deluxe peripheral bag. Usually they just hold your keyboard with your mouse being squeezed in. This one is nice. Separate compartments for your primary/back up mice, one for headset with a completely separate slot for the keyboard. Very nice. I would definitely purchase if I traveled to a lot of lans.

I dunno, this is fishy at best and seems like some sort of desperate move after the spyware fiasco. "Team Razer" incorporates every team that Razer sponsors, which is a ludicrously large amount.
And as for the always online question, it was answered quite eloquently by Razer on page 2.

"Elite apparel"? Sorry, but this looks like that generic brand type of sportswear that only the really poor kids used to wear back in high school :S

Ye, Leenock is on a fantastic run recently. He would deserve it 100% in my opinion But lets wait and see

No no, elite apparel of champions. It's better.
Not sure what the value here is of giving things to the people you sponsor for their contributions to e-sports if you're already sponsoring them as well, but you'll get a nod for doing that last bit at least. Keep up the good work!

The 'spyware fiasco' didn't really become an issue until a few days ago and was started by a forum post that was created on the 23rd of last month. Our League of Legends teams TSM, CLG Prime and CLG.eu wore their jackets at the Riot Season 2 Championship which ended on the 13th of last month.

Thanks for the laugh though, we needed that.

I feel confused, so Razer is the entity that manages these players as a team by hiring coaches, providing salaries, flying to events, etc, or are you just the title sponsor like RC to EG and the whole jacket business is a part of a endorsement deal?
Sorry, but I'm having trouble figuring out the branding and purpose of the definition "Team Razer" in this scenario, maybe someone can help me out!
Yeah, I know the jackets themselves existed, however this TL post did not, which is what I was referring to.
Sorry if I come across bitter, my 2012 Mamba stopped working last week and the shipment cost to UK from Sweden(bought it by import when it launched since it wasnt available here) is silly. My old mamba still works fine though, but the 2012 is way more awesome for rts gaming on a surface such as bed sheets ^^
