Hi TL,
It's been a while since I made the MBC Game logo and the TeamLiquid logo into a chainmail inlay (What is a chainmail inlay?). So about two weeks ago I decided to try my hand at something new. As you may have guessed from the title, I went for our beloved Liquipedia Zerg icon.
For those interested, the design looked like this:
The final product is probably more interesting though  so without further ado:
Some factoids:
- Wire used is 1.5mm galvy (grey) and 1.6mm copper (orange)
- Rings are all 6mm in diameter
- Total amount of rings is 1129
- 19x19cm when laid out in a square (max height/width: 21cm)
- Weave used is a standard European 4-in-1
- Took me about 15-20 hours to make
Let's get to the main goal of this topic though. I hope most of you read up on this thread by flicky. Long story short: a group of gamers are going to speedrun a ton of games over the course of 5 days which will be streamed live. During this event they will accept donations that will be handed to the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Additionally, you can donate for special somethings during the marathon. For example, when they speedrun Final Fantasy 7, they will allow viewers to give money for the naming of a character. As you can read in the thread above, flicky is going to try and get people to pull together and name Tifa "ESPORTS".
Last year this event was an absolute blast and a lot of money was raised for this charity. This year the bar will be set even higher and through this topic I'd like to try and contribute a bit as well: I'd like to auction the Chainmail Zerg Logo above for this cause.
The idea is simple. Our very own TheMango has agreed to help me out. You can donate money for the charity to his paypal ( phiwha AT gmail.com ). He will forward everything to flicky's ESPORTS project but will also keep track of who has donated the highest sum in total. So make sure that when you donate you include your TL username in the description! If you'd like a shot at this, donate before Saturday the 7th of January, 1:55 PM EST, which is the time at which FF7 is planned to start. After this you can still, of course, donate to the cause, but you'd be out of the running for the chainmail. The person who has in the end donated the most will be contacted by us and I will send this lovely Zerg Logo Chainmail to the lucky winner. In the end though, everyone wins. Except cancer.
