If I were to guess, it's an issue with the power source; once I've turned it on (or at least, hit the power button), it keeps booting for a second before shutting down immediately, after which it, without any prompting by me, will begin to try booting again, as all the fans begin spinning and the lights turn on in the machine, before yet again shutting down a second later. It tries to boot almost immediately after shutting itself down as well. If we gave you tech advice (for example, "your harddrive is dead, replace it"), could you fix the computer yourself? The problem occurred yesterday when I was playing Dark Souls; after dying in a really cheesy, stupid way, I set my controller down in disgust, only I missed the desk, violently ripping out the DS3 cord that was plugged into a USB in the back of my computer. The USB got a little warped, and my computer immediately bluescreened, before quickly turning into the mess that it is now. This USB on the back of my computer is connected directly to my motherboard, so my suspicions are thus: 1) The USB that was ripped out somehow damaged a part of the motherboard, and/or knocked it out of alignment somehow, leading to a disconnect in power transfer, or 2) The motherboard was handling all these inputs at full capacity, and when the USB was unceremoniously ejected, something on the Motherboard grid shorted out, leading to something being crippled, and thus the predicament that I am now in. In reality though, I have absolutely no idea; I'm not fantastic with computers. Also, about names better than Trey, Monte, I can give you one. It starts with a "J" and ends with a "ffrey". + Show Spoiler + It's Joffrey, not Jeffrey

What kind of motherboard do you have? Some brands (Asus) are notoriously susceptible to basically anything and are semi-commonly dead-in-box. If the motherboard is "completely" dead, then your power button shouldn't work and your fans probably wouldn't spin (this might be brand/model/specific-problem dependent, though) although the power light inside may still come on. It sounds like a motherboard issue of some kind, but not a power supply issue. + Show Spoiler + I was expecting Jaffrey

Might also be some sort of overheating issue - are all fans functional when you first boot things up (before it fails)? Although I'm not sure what you described would cause that. I think my computer acted similarly years ago when my CPU fan died. Lesson to learn - don't rage throw controllers. Not overheating, I checked that as soon as it happened. Also the rage was pretty minor, I just missed the table LOL
