A dioptre is simply the measurement of the power of a lens. So -5.75 is in dioptres, not 23. I have no idea where you'd even get 23 quarters from. What are you reading?
'Legally blind' is often a misnomer and various from country to country (and possibly state to state?) I can't tell you what if any benefits you'd get from your government---here you need insurance of some sort to be covered for glasses and in order to be covered by the government in relation to your vision you'd have to be either worse than 20/200 or 20/50 WITHOUT the ability to be corrected by glasses, dependent on what you'd be applying for.
In your case I highly doubt your prescription is uncorrectable (that is, having a relevant medical reason).
Also it's 'astigmatism,' which refers to the power of your eye being different in one axis than the other.

Google can only go so far man. All the more reason for you to go and actually see a doctor.

The notes from what the doc wrote for my chart is where I got quarters. I just made the connection when 1 = 4. But yes I agree that I do need to go.

Found a dude in Illinois with similar eye issues to mine in a journal from 1801 and they were like, "this dudes eyes are so fucked were literally going to just start removing parts of the lenses to help him"
And then it worked.
But yea, I just did some random googling. I'm definitely legally blind in both eyes without glasses. 23 quarters in the right and 21 in the left. Apparently I can get tax breaks. I should look into that. 23 quarters? what does that mean? Let me Math that for you. 23 quarters = 5 wholes and 3 quarters So he's 5.75. At least this is what I'm guessing. I'm no doctor so take this with a grain of salt. I'm like -9 in both eyes if that means anything to you Wave. Maybe I'm just speaking gibberish. And I hope you get your eyes checked decently often (at least once/year) since you're likely at higher risk for retinal detachment
I really shouldn't be doing this over the interwebs

I get my eyes checked at least once a year. My eyes aren't getting any worse so that's nice.
Retinal Detachment sounds like my eyes are just going to fall out of their sockets. Is that a thing? I hope not. I bet I'd go blind though if I got Retinal Detachment.
Thanks for making me paranoid hahaha!

Ding ding ding.
The day I give more medical advice than <insert something very basic> followed by "go see a <insert doctor/specialist>" is the day I... I dunno but something bad will happen.
I did shut down some injury discussions in the NBA/NFL threads this past year though because I couldn't let the misinformation continue.

As for non-medical related discussion-y-type things, What We Do In the Shadows was fucking hilarious.

I've had a fair amount of shit recently, and this year in general, but I'm more or less pretty relaxed right now. So I guess I'll ride that for awhile. These extended periods of feeling ok can be pretty rare.

So my bike needed a new carburator.
Parts and labor ended up being just under 20$.

Rofl that Alistar glitch video is the most famous thing I've ever done in my life. It might be the high point of my entire lifetime!
|
Cixer don't you have insurance? Just schedule the annual check up bro. You more than likely get a $100 allowance a year towards glasses/contacts too.
|
grats wave! I havn't been to an eye doctor in a few years now... should go but im pretty comfortable with no glasses. I dont think i would look good in them and i hate touching my eye so learning to put in contacts will be fun. Everyone else in my family has glasses so thats interesting too.... damn guess i better go for a checkup.
|
You should. I've known people that say they are fine without glasses then they go to the doctor, get a pair of glasses and experience a whole new world. As Humans we are very good at adjusting to our deficits.
