Real, Netflix is making a live action Death Note (set in America) with Willem Dafoe voicing Ryuk. There are other actors but that's the one that gives me the smiles. I dunno, it doesn't look as bad as it could have been. I'm gonna watch it (why not, it's free), and have cautious optimism considering Netflix's good track record.

I can't speak for where you are, but around here they get early access to listing and have an SQL style database where they can sort whatever you want and easily check into all sorts of abstract different locations, features, etc quickly and easily with alerts being sent to you instantly before they hit the general listings on stuff like Realtor.com etc. It is also likely with a legit realtor you can just go look at a place whenever without it being an open house, whereas when you are trying to buy it becomes a pain as a relative "nobody" in the property business to set up meet and greets and walkthroughs other than open houses. And you pay nothing, its the seller who is losing money on it being a brokered deal. Makes it easier I think, because in order to get good stuff you need to jump on it within maybe an hour. A good realtor will also have no problem shwoing you around the market comparable, and telling you places to avoid. They should straight up tell you "wow, this is a shitty money pit, we shouldn't bother." etc Agreed. A good realtor is good. A bad realtor is a total waste of time and usually actively harmful. Remember also that realtors are incentivized to get you into a house ASAP, instead of necessarily the best house for you. To them they want to both get you into the most expensive house possible, and also as soon as possible, to maximize their income. You have to fight these incentives. However: And you pay nothing, its the seller who is losing money on it being a brokered deal. This is not always true. If you are competing with another offer on a house, your offer is worse than a no-realtor offer and you would have to increase your offer accordingly.

If that's the case I'll almost certainly find it disappointing the same way I'd find an action-oriented remake of the Shining disappointing. Action-oriented Death Note makes absolutely zero sense. Why not just make something else?

O.o here anyway realtors commission is split and the pool is the same if there is one or two. But if the other person has a designated agent you really should too. That just seems like an awful idea. No amount of commission is worth the headache of negotiating price with multiple people simultaneously on a house, holding your own open houses, marketing your own house, negotiating terms and conditions... and doing all this against a pro that does this 15 times a month and has for the last 10 years. Oh God. Just makes me shudder thinking about all the extra bullshit you'd have to do. Buying/selling/moving sucks enough as is. Although I suppose I'm lucky and my realtor is amazing. Does business the right way. Took us to probably 100 homes , was very knowledgeable on the market, didn't really pressure us at all, negotiated very well by keying onto sellee sticking points, and just generally made the whole thing so much easier. Likewise I don't understand how entertainment professionals can not have an agent; people like esports players and casters. Just does not make sense not having the pro on your team.

I think you switched from buying without realtors to selling without realtors. Lots of people buy without realtors. That's fairly common. Fewer sell without realtors, but we bought one that was FSBO so it does happen. The reason people don't hire a pro is often because there isn't a budget for it, and a bad one is pretty bad. So if you are hiring an agent in connection with something very lucrative (i.e., your NBA salary) you can guarantee someone who is actually good. Everyone else has to basically hope they get a good one.

I've talked to so many people that think they don't need a realtor and it just blows my mind. Like... I'm confident I could do almost everyone here's job if I spent 20 hours as an amateur researching it. I'm also confident that while I could do it... yall would kick my ass. Likewise I'd kick your ass at my job. And a realtor will kick your ass at his.

Mom (local doc) had already heard that the owners were moving. At appropriate time she approached them. They were hesitant anyway. Hired a realtor. We still bought the house, the sellers got less than first offer, and realtor walked away with sth like 20 grand. Do note that oer here getting your estate valued isnt very tied to the realtors job. Ofc not all cases are like this, but if you're looking at a specific house or low competition, realtors are as likely to be leeches as pros. Parents house was pretty run down but in a good location.
