I had some things to say about TB, but honestly I don't think it matters. He's just shooting himself in the foot at this point. --- In other news, the shithole of the company I used to work for did something even worse today. So as a bit of a backstory: a bit after I started, I got a girl hired because she's a close friend of my fiancee and a buddy of mine. Brilliant front end developer, great designer, just awesome at her job and really hardworking. So a few months back (January, I think), our VP/Business Executive (lets call her Shithead) comes to my friend and tells her that they want her to start picking up work as a Business Analyst on top of what she's already doing. Let it be known that this is Shithead's job. Shithead was the one who started the company with the CEO, and the CEO claimed that Shithead was the best at her job and knew more about the industry than anyone else. Except, that every client that Shithead ever worked with asked for her specifically to be taken off the project because Shithead didn't know what she was doing and fucked up every contract we ever had, because she didn't know how to collect requirements, set deadlines, or convey information from the client to the developers. You know, the things a BA has to do. So Shithead says that she wants my friend to help out with this. She says sure, it'll be interesting to see that side of the company. Well, by "help out with", they apparently meant "take over all of these duties and also do all of your normal Front End Developer work. While Shithead sat in her office (the only one to get her own office aside from the CEO), and did... I don't know. She built shitty mockups for customers that our designers had to redo every single time. Who the fuck knows what she did all day other than Tweet shit about our company and get yelled at by clients. So now jump to last month. My friend meets up with me and some former employees for lunch, since we all ended up being friends and had a lot in common. She tells us that she's being put on probation because she wasn't doing a good enough job. Never mind the fact that she's not a BA and had no training (formal or otherwise) from anyone when being given this role. Never mind the fact that the projects were already in a state of insanity. Never mind that she's not allowed to actually talk directly to the clients for nearly any reason. It was apparently her fault that she had two years worth of horseshit dumped on her, and then they yelled at her and punished her for not fixing it nearly immediately. And today, the only other person at the office that I still like texts us and lets us know that HR came in and let my friend go. Because my friend, who went to school for design and has been working as a Front End Developer for more than 5 years or something, and was hired on as a Front End Developer, wasn't doing a good enough job as a BA, and couldn't pick up Shithead's slack. There's a reason I left that company. It wasn't the work being boring, I could deal with that. It wasn't the industry being dull, that I could slog along with too. It was these fucking people. Who smile at you and give you a present for being a good worker one day, and then less than a week later blame you for everything in the company, which they apparently can, since they own it and therefore can ignore the reality that they don't know fuck all about anything. Sorry about that, I'm just really pissed about the whole thing and needed to vent. | ||

It really seems like the key to making huge amounts of money is just to be incredibly lucky. There may be some exceptions with super smart people but otherwise it just seems like if you have a working brain it's all about being in the right place at the right time. | ||

Also I'm not sure I want to play Hearthstone from now on, there's gonna be Hungry Dragons everywhere and I doubt my Rogue and Warlock decks can handle 5/6s easily, let alone on turn 4. :< | ||
