I can't answer the first but for the second it's a largely different experience even from the first season. The story is presented in a different way than the show so that alone is enough to make them a different experience. Add in the lack of HBO's subtlety and a novels ability to include inner thoughts then you get an even more different experience. | ||

But characters mentioned it, and HBO really drove it home. I think the Baelish scene was in part to show that that's just the world he lives in. He maintains the whore houses and it's common place for him. It also showed that he could be above such distractions as a result (not that he doesn't have distractions of his own). It was probably an unnecessary scene, but sex appeal! *shrug* I don't really have a problem with a lot of the sex scenes they throw in. It's a dirty, dirty world, Westeros. | ||
