It's about how you use it, Frenchie.

Thought they still had to go through Dance of Dragons. For non-reading plebs, they have a chance of getting spoiled for the first 4 episodes. I still have to watch last night's episode, and I won't be watching the other leaked ones ahead of time, I don't think.

Especially + Show Spoiler + Sansa's plotline I only saw I think 2 seasons and it was already veering a bit back then so I guess it makes sense it's gotten even further off source since then. How could they get rid of Belwas! I couldn't remember his name so I searched "fat body guard song of ice and fire" and first result was wiki with him. Google you beautiful bastard. Or do you think that they are similar enough that you can get the same experience from watching the show or reading the book? Your second part is rather different question to your first part. I can't answer the first but for the second it's a largely different experience even from the first season. The story is presented in a different way than the show so that alone is enough to make them a different experience. Add in the lack of HBO's subtlety and a novels ability to include inner thoughts then you get an even more different experience.

I guess basically what I'm hoping for is that the show won't spoil the 6th book entirely when it comes out. But I should really get on watching the show. And watching Jojo.

It definitely deviated from there, but it's close enough that I'll be disappointed by story spoilers in the future.

That was only implied in the novels iirc. The whole Belish going a monologue while the prostitutes finger each other was also not around I think. HBO is loves shoving story points into your face with a hammer. Not sure why since their other shows aren't always as blunt. Might have been other small details I just can't recall. Oh yea just remembered the Direwolves were basically not in S1 where as they were quite important in the novels. Well they quite important throughout the novels but I know S1 did a bad job with them.

But characters mentioned it, and HBO really drove it home. I think the Baelish scene was in part to show that that's just the world he lives in. He maintains the whore houses and it's common place for him. It also showed that he could be above such distractions as a result (not that he doesn't have distractions of his own). It was probably an unnecessary scene, but sex appeal! *shrug* I don't really have a problem with a lot of the sex scenes they throw in. It's a dirty, dirty world, Westeros.
