I pointed out the foolishness of it exactly because the majority of voice over work in anime is nothing like that. Show nested quote +you realize that currently there just isn't the same talent in Western voice acting to do the show justice Now if that doesn't mean what I think it means, do explain. To me I take it to mean exactly what you said. Western voice actors don't have the same level of talent as there Japanese counterparts. If that's not what you meant I'll concede but I don't believe I misread you at all. I'm not angry so much as tired of hearing every time it comes up that dubs are still at the original Akira English release level of terrible. They ain't.
Monogatari has a cast of 12 extremely good voice actors with a large range of voices, most of those being female VAs. It's arguably the best lineup of female VAs in a show. My point was that while there are good Western VAs, there just isn't the same quantity of them and there just aren't a lot of female actors that can emulate the ranges of what the Japanese characters use. I can see how you could miss that point if you haven't watched the show. In general I have a lot more problems with the female VAs than male in dubs. Maybe that's a perspective thing.
I mentioned it because I was specifically talking about how I thought there would be a massive increase in voice actors with gaming getting so big but I haven't really noticed it so my hypothesis is that gaming acting at a high budget is being typecast.
Black Lagoon is still on hiatus. No idea when Madhouse will do more.
edit: I don't know if anyone can pull off the Moe rage that Hanazawa did in second series.

Not at this time sadly. It's anime, getting another season/section of a show is more hit&miss then Legendary cards in hearthstone packs. Majority of the time, just have to hope the ending the show gives you isn't a cliffhanger to a season that'll never come or "Go read the manga lol"
Last bit on this, if I had to guess the reason you don't see a lot of voice actors in gaming go to anime dubbing is the money isn't as good.
Also I've not given a watch to Ani-plexs dub for the Bakemonogatari and I'm honestly not even sure if they did anything more then put official subs up on the website for the rest of the series.
|
There is no dub to my knowledge, just subs. The writing doesn't lend itself well to dubs(Or subs really but it's slightly better) as there's a lot of tricky Japanese wordplay. It sucks since they don't even sub the commentary or specials on the Blu-rays(Well aside from Bake)

When I was in Poland a few years back I watched a Die Hard movie in the hotel. Now THAT was pure cancer. It was like some bored old guy was dubbing the whole thing himself then they don't even remove the English voices in the background so it sounds even more weird.

Dubs are fine aside from the few egregiously bad ones. Hating every dub because you've seen a couple bad ones is like never eating a burger ever because a McDonald's patty made you feel sick. Trying to be elitist one way or the other just makes you look self important and smug.

Would it be worth trying to stream go4lol?

I'd have it on in the background

I uh... May have questioned the intelligence of the VP of the company in an email just now.
Fuck.

GG, you're fucked.
@Numy, I don't choose to watch anime, I usually get dragged into it by my friends, the last anime I watched willingly was GitS Arise. Speaking of which, I believe we intend to watch the original Jurassic Park today since one of them has never seen it.
Oh, and Wolfenstein New Order is pretty good, if I finish this path of the story early enough today, I might stream some of it.

Fuck. weren't you gunna move to a new job anyways? or at least thinkign about it? sounds like the right time to jump ship.
wolfenstein pretty good, not much replay value though.

There are supposedly two timelines, no idea how much it changes, so I would want to see that at least.
And those fucking panzerhund's will still creep me the fuck out, goddamn jump scares....

Is New Order more in line with Return to Castle Wolfenstien? I loved that but really didn't enjoy that semi-open world one I played a few years back.
|
Everyone here needs to read "Ready Player One". I know all of you will enjoy it because its pretty much pandering to everything I love right now.
Also got away with calling the VP an idiot because he realized he was being an idiot and asking the impossible. "No I cannot move the bright yellow orb in the sky out of this image, nor enhance the image because that's not how things work. This isn't CSI."
