Every set in recent MtG history breaks new records for being one of the most opened sets ever, and Tasigur was not only a pre-release promo but is also only a Rare so not that hard to find. It'll go up eventually but $50 in the next year or so seems a bit high to me?

Tasagur will be a modern staple for control decks and for most grind decks. It won't stay at 50 but it's about if not as good as goyf was for awhile. They are pretty nonbo with each other tho.
I'd sell him right now, but not sure for how much longer. Gb/x decks are really good right now, and it has a lot to do with how versatile tasagur can be.
I don't have long enough to type it, but basically goyf is a god and respect him. That card should be 200.
Tasagur is compared to goyf due to the delve mechanic he possesses. B for a 4/5 is really fucking good.

I miss read moonbears post originally thought he said they are 50. At 10 I'd keep him if you're going to play him or think you will. Selling him soon was to take advantage of the fact that he was 50. Other wise it's probably not worth getting rid of.
Nonbo is a non combo. Just more fun to say.

Maybe do a pick run down? I feel pretty confident in this draft format (couple 3-0s on MOTO) and might be able to help you out. EDIT: ALSO DRAGONS SPOILERS GET HYPPED BOYOS! I am super hyped. I dunno if I'm going to do a rundown here though, if you're offering maybe you can help me on Skype or something let me know how I went wrong? I think what I'll do is sell my tasigur as 'punishment' so I can support drafting until I get enough practice /good enough to support it better. There's really no sense in me hoarding cards anyway since I don't see myself playing standard/modern anytime soon. The only thing I wonder is stuff like 'will I shoot myself if tasigur climbs to $50 once FRF cycles out?' Also I'm in new york/new Jersey in two weeks. Shadowing on a draft sounds like fun. I have a bit of free time right now so just send me a PM whenever you think you can do a draft and I'll see if I can make it.

I doubt he will ever hit $50 but I wouldn't be surprised if he hit $15 and slowly climbed post rotation.
Things he has going for him that makes him a more appealing hold then most rares. - Pretty unique and powerful. Hooting Mandrils saw some fringe modern play as a simple and cheap hyper efficient beater and Tasigur is significantly more powerful then ole Hooter. - While he is "only" a rare, he is from a smaller set that isn't going to be opened as much. Dragons comes out in 20 days and most people are going to buy that instead of Fate. - Has already seen Modern play. Multiple decks at the Pro Tour had him in them and he had been out for 3 weeks. Already has credentials and I don't see him going anywhere.
All of these make him more likely to hold his value compared to other rares. I wouldn't feel too bad selling him right now because it will probably be a slow climb but I wouldn't be upset to hold onto him. I cracked a foil the other day and am holding on to that bad boy, could easily see it hitting $50 bucks in the next couple years.
Tarmo is expensive because he is high in demand and low in supply. There aren't many copies of him floating around in the world and he is the most efficient creature in all of Magic. He is pretty much the highest power a "vanilla" creature will ever be. // What Moonbear said.
Inb4 OT becomes the Magic thread.

(I mean either way I have a paper tasigur which I won't be selling so I think dumping the online one is fine) Tarmogyf is one of the best creatures ever printed.
- It's cheap
The cheaper the spell, the better it is. In Eternal formats, cheap is everything. Spending only 2 mana to play a great creature means you can either drop this really early in the game and land a threat, or you can play it later on in the game and leave mana open to do other things. (Mana efficiency is just as important as in Hearthstone!)
- It's powerful
In formats with Fetch lands, cheap instants and sorceries, and where lots of creatures die, Tarmogoyf can very quickly become a 4/5. And remember this thing cost 2 mana. Once things like Artifacts, Enchantments, Planeswalkers and (very rarely!) Tribal cards hit the Graveyard this thing becomes even bigger. Like, maximum 8/9 big. And again, remember this thing only costs 2 mana! It's kind of insane.
- It's easy to splash
Tarmogoyf is not a very colour intensive since it only needs 1xG to play. So any deck that can make Green mana can basically play this card. And remember, in Eternal formats mana fixing is really easy thanks to all the lands available to you. So it can be shoved into most decks that need a cheap, very efficient, big creature.
In fact, Tarmogoyf is often called a "Blue creature" because Blue decks are extremely happy to play a couple of Forest in return for having one of the best creatures ever printed. Your opponent landing good creatures? Tarmgoyf sits there and blocks for you without dying (including other Tarmogyfs!) so you don't die to random aggro. Need to suddenly flick the kill switch? Tarmogoyf beats people down for you since it can become so big. Want to play a threat but leave up mana for counterspells? Tarmgoyf is cheap so no worries about tapping out.
- There's not a lot of copies of this card
You'll note that Tarmogyf has only had 2 printings of this card (see the Editions column on the right). Future Sight was one of the least sold sets in recent MtG history (if you count the last 8 yrs as "recent" but I'm going off Mirrodin/8th Edition onwards as recent, since that's when the new border style was introduced). Modern Masters was a very limited print run and Tarmogyf was a Mythic so it didn't get printed much.
- Everyone wants one
Remember how I said this is an easily splashable, cheap, super efficient, powerful creature? Loads of decks want this card. It's great. For a lot of decks, the only reason not to play this card is because you can't afford it. Or your deck needs creatures that do more than just sit there and beat people up. But even then you might still just jam several copies of this card into your deck. I mean, in Modern one of the biggest improvements in several (already good!) deck archetypes has literally been shoving in 4 x Tarmogoyfs into the decklist.

Like I said, it'll probably climb up eventually but unlikely to $50 in the near future (I'm thinking within a 2 yr timeframe) except if it's Foil and/or a foreign language. The closest comparison I can think of is maybe Snapcaster Mage since that's a chase rare that sees a lot of play but it's taken ~4 years to start skirting the $40-ish range.
I mean if you're willing to hold onto them for a while, the Foils will probably go for a lot as Vintage/Legacy players start looking for Foils to pimp their deck out with. (I mean Foil Snapcaster is currently close to a heavily played Tarmogoyf or Tundra in price sheesh)

I think $50 might have been a slight exaggeration Moonbear. I was mostly discussing whether it was worth it to hold or not haha.

Yeah so I think what I'd do is hang on to my paper copy but sell the online one so I can continue to practice/improve. On paper I actually have the beginnings of some sort of half-assed sultai deck with tasigur sidisi and silumgar.

Goyf was basically good in Standard/Extended/Legacy all at once upon being printed, making it extraordinarily high demand right away.
Unless a card is high-demand like that in all 3 most popular constructed formats right away like that, it's not going to shoot up in value that fast (Mythics notwithstanding, because the Mythic rarity artificially inflates the value of those cards thanks to their relative scarcity).

Wave you should make a turbo fog deck.
I heard that those are a good way to make friends!

After Ghandi and I literally spent an entire day trying to stream snipe him, we got paired together in solo queue by complete random accident.
We won real hard too, it was fun.
