On the topic of streams I just spent like 45 minutes making a terrible overlay in MS paint. This is significantly harder than I thought it would be.

Oh right, uhh if you check the twitch sub reddit the top threads are relating to the issues people are having with twitch. Half the time I can get stuff working on beta.twitch.tv but only barely(streams load/chat loads/no pictures/no twitch emotes/broken icons)
I mean it seems to be an issue with a few folks so it is a problem for duders.

I know about it but don't actively search it. I'm subscribed to Smooth McGroove's channel if it counts as remixes. I know between 6-10 touhou remixes uploaders, several of them simply tagged as "not my style" or "that annoying guy who just uses an adjective and a number as video titles so you can't know which music it is". Apart from that it's mostly clicking related videos. I avoid about everything with video title mentioning vocals (as what interests me is the melody and the take on it mainly), techno, dance, nightcore, metal, etc. because either I'm not a fan of the genre, or its Touhou remixes are usually jumbled notes with little relation to the original ("metal" mostly being a overexcited distorted electric guitar doing its own thing and mixing a few notes of the original melody every 45s or so to pretend it's tied), I also avoid themes I don't know the original of (come across some when the video is a medley/full album, tends to slant me toward not liking the original as much when I listen to it but in exchange I get some gems like that one of True Administrator). Even then I could easily get 2+ hours of stuff to listen to with mostly new arranges just jumping around. There's simply that many touhou arranges of about every music genre floatng around. I ended up knowing some circles I enjoy particularly (WAVE and especially Morrigan's stuff, Pizuy's Cell, higuma, some of the sisimai brothers, Marasy8's piano playing of course, Tokyo NEETs' live jazzy arranges, some of =Neutral=), which I can't say of other games/series' remixes, either because there are far less, or because I don't listen to them enough to know remixers. That is not to say I only listen to touhou stuff, though. But you asked about video game remixes and I'm mostly content with originals. I also found a fair number of enjoyable remixes of all genres on the playlist. Or just games with good soundtrack like Rochard or Super Stardust. I agree, I tend to avoid remixes for games I'm not familiar with, so I don't normally do Touhou. Most of the remixes I keep are from games from the N64 era or older since more modern games don't benefit the same way from remixing that older ones do (I mean, I like chiptunes, but it's nice to have your favorite tunes lengthened from one minute to two or three minutes). I'll have to check all that out, thanks for sharing. I'm interested in Monte's perspective on packing since he did a big move fairly recently. I mean, packing to move house is a lot different from packing for a week's vacation. I've mostly done the latter kind of thing so I don't mind unpacking. A lot of Zun's work is really good and I do recommend listening to them. While a lot of themes have aged with time, if you like something and wish it just felt more updated there's a ton of remixes of all the themes out there.

Monte wasn't just trying to be a popular content creator, he had a specific content in mind similar to a sort of Day 9 Daily. Day 9 had personality as well, but his initial success is extremely tied to the esteem he was held in the BW community, on the back of his very high level ability.
Monte wasn't garbage at League or anything, but he wasn't a top tier player either, which is generally what the public will expect from content of that type. He was good enough to help a very very large % of the playerbase which I think is why he started doing it, but unfortunately clout plays a large part, and in this scenario clout comes in the form of Elo/League+Division standing. So what you're saying is, his show didn't work out because the second half of his name was -gomery and not Cristo?
I don't know if I can believe that Montecristo could get stream viewers. He works as a pair with DoA because DoA actually knows how to distract from montecristo being montecristo. I don't think Montecristo could play League and commentate, and come off as knowledgeable as he does on OGN. DoA's joking around is what makes Montecristo look better than he is. I'm not saying montecristo is bad, I just don't think he has an audience if he actually played league.

I'd watch the shit out of a montecristo stream because I'm very certain he's like silver league and it would be funny as hell to watch him try to sound smart then

A lot of Zun's work is really good and I do recommend listening to them. While a lot of themes have aged with time, if you like something and wish it just felt more updated there's a ton of remixes of all the themes out there. The biggest strengths of ZUN is writing melodies that "fit" the impressions he wants to conjure in the listener/player. As you said the themes don't really age well with time sound-wise, the melodies stick though, and can easily be retuned, arranged, etc. and still retain the core feeling that makes them good to begin with.
Reading his notes on what he tried to do with each theme (I think they're normally in the manual, and the translation is on the wiki?) is interesting because he's clear and makes easy to follow his associations between music and feeling. So you read some, and for most themes you can instantly guess what he was trying to do applying that.
In the latter stages of EoSD, you go from the slow and methodical theme for the anemic scholarly magician, to a rocky and electric tune for the Dio-inspired maid, to a very dignified air for the final confrontation with an old high-class vampire (who references Jojo in a bit of dialogue while the theme's name references a piece by Ravel).
There's also how clear a distinction you can make between "exploration" (stages) and "confrontation" (bosses) themes. You can still have very peaceful pieces for fights (like Border of Life) and tense/"fighting" stage themes (Hellfirre Mantle), but the distinction is there nonetheless. You can listen to a theme and tell "this one's about a place/situation" or "this one's about a person" (there are a few exceptions, like Emotional Skyscraper which is more about Byakuren's history and the circumstances in which she appears than her herself I think). Just that does a lot to give them personality and help them bring up specific impressions in you. The Fantastic Legend of Tohno, and Nostalgic Blood of the East do a very good job at depicting their respective place's particular atmosphere.
Then of course there are all the other albums or music that doesn't come from the game, and don't have that "support" to anchor their story to. They still get quite evocative, and albums like Magical Astronomy, or Retrospective 53 Minutes use their setting well to make up for it. (I'm thinking that there's a bunch of Retrospective 53 Minutes that's tied to elements of Japanese culture that differs from European/French one so I'm kind of missing out but it makes the setting itself interesting.)

I see white and gold as well. I can see how people see the blue, but I can't see the black anywhere no matter how hard I try.
