It's the 3rd point--the fact that Mental Misstep can be played by literally any deck that really made it format-breaking for Legacy--FoW requires you to be in blue to have a blue card to throw away, while you have no such restriction on Mental Misstep--any deck can play it. Sort of.
The need to pitch a card (and specifically a Blue card) to use Force of Will for free is a big deal. 2-for-1'ing yourself means you have to deploy the card really selectively. Typically you use it to break up a combo that trying to go off (or at least threaten to break it up, so the combo player needs to play around it) or if there's a turn 1 card you absolutely have to stop then and there because otherwise it will quickly take over the game (like Goblin Lacket).
In fact in a lot of matchups, the Blue control deck with actually sideboard out Force of Wills because it's not interested in 2-for-1'ing itself. But you still keep it in your main deck to try and keep those pesky combo players honest.
True, it's still a free counterspell that has no tempo cost so it's still very powerful and awkward for some decks to play around so parts of points 1 and 2 still apply. However, Mental Misstep just takes it to a whole 'nother level and the need to 2-for-1 yourself with FoW is a big, big deal. I just found it easier to write about Mental Misstep that way and not bother with opening a whole can of worms about Force of Will and the intricacies of that spell...

I remember always being sad when it wasn't *tho I didn't know the name then* #13. Like immensely sad because it was and still is by far my favourite one outta the bunch.

I remember the "More Bells and Whistles" video from a tape me and Monte had. I think was some kind of computer animation awards thing. It had the chomp chomp eat a record bit and styro the dog, but it also had other things that I can't remember off the top of my head. I just glanced through Imaginaria though and everything else wasn't familiar to me.
Jeez, that takes me back.

Yeah I mean, the polish comment was overblown in my opinion. He clearly likes stirring the pot and I doubt with a straight face he'd use "I've talked to people and they all say x" to formulate his opinion of the entirety of a country. He's dumb but he's not stupid.
