Perhaps also of interest to you, depending on where you are in the English speaking world, the words "Mary", "Marry", and "Merry" may be considered to be pronounced all the same way, or considered to be pronounced three different ways. There's a lot of variation contained within the English "TH" sound (less so than a lot of other phonemes, though), but we've learned to group them all together because the distinction between them isn't important to us. In other places or times, this may not have been the case and there may be "TH1" and "TH2" sounds that we would simply describe as "TH". | ||
