So, MTG sealed deck draft.
Got Dragonscale General, the 3W 2/3 soldier who triggers Bolster X at the end of turn, where X is the number of creatures tapped. In the boosters I opened a bit of removal, some nice blue stuff that seemed to lack synergy, and I thought I had nice things in red, green and black, and had trouble deciding what to put with my white.
Ended up building my draft around the General and Citadel Siege (holy crap it's strong), with 2x Sandsteppe outscat, 2x Whisperer of the Wilds, and a Caravan or something card from the previous extension, basically 2/5 for 3W that could Bolster itself if tapped. I sprinkled a bit of red and black (using terrains that can provide one of 2 mana types) to use stuff like Temur Battle Rage which I intended as a finisher once I had built enough counters on a creature to gain trample. I had 2x of a 1W instant to destroy enchantments (never got used, people didn't have enchantments) and another 2x of a card that let me tap a target creature for 1W, to prevent blocks. Also Battlefront Krushok (almost won me a match... almost).
Went 2-2+ Show Spoiler +, won the first Bo3 against an opponent with the Mythical that spawns tokens with Prowess whenever its own Prowess is activated (she attacked with it, dunno why, so I blocked to kill it). Lost to my 2nd opponent because we misread Bloodfire Enforcers (well I didn't read it but he wouldn't have prevented me so I don't think he cheated), the "sorcery and instant" read as "or" and that card alone wrecked me in the 3rd match (I'd have killed it through block, he played an instant and Initiative let it live, but he only had that instant in his graveyard). Third serie I got destroyed by the guy who went on to win 4-0, with apparently a pretty solid draft. He used counters to, and cards like Flamerush Rider to copy flying buffed stuff. Apparently he also had the creatures that grants Lifelink to all of yours who have counters on them, and won games through that too. He offered to look at my card pool after I barely missed a kill relying on Temur Battle Rage and the red splash perplexed him. He changed my GW with splashes into a BGW (black was basically a 4B removal, a B 0/4 able to Bolster itself, and used in some multicolor cards including a Charm of something, BGW but very versatile) and added more removal that I didn't use, either because it was expensive, rather specific, or straight-up mistakes. That gave me the 4th serie where, despite a loss because I didn't draw a plain and I had 6 cards in hand requiring one by the time I lost, my opponent played Temur Sabertooth (which gave him nightmares his previous serie against someone who used one too) and I was able to exile it with a 1W enchant (comes back from exile if the enchant is destroyed) that the 3rd guy made me put in, leaving me free to pump out counters then attack (with a Channel Harm bait when I tapped all my creatures, that saved me when he was hiding lethal (he kept sighing the whole game and looking depressed so I thought he really had a bad hand, nope)).
As my first "real" foray into MTG I was surprised by how slow the games went, as I expected more stuff and low drops to be played, in the end I could build a bunch of counters through Bolster and the Siege because of that, and it was more an issue of being able to attack, or people using creature removal directly (the general lived maybe 3 turns over the 4 games I played it, good thing I had the siege). Got Sandblasted twice expecting to force the death of a valuable creature though, and because my initial deck lacked low drops it was hard to rebuild stacks (the whisperers also tended to receive the Bolster stacks because of their low Toughness and it created awkward situations where I couldn't use the counters because I needed the mana; triggering their Ferocity condition was easy though).

Every mistake is a lesson~
For all the QQ I output here, whenever I come across something new I'm easy as pie to satisfy or just get interested.

I feel like I should try to find a sealed draft somewhere. I'm going to get my ass handed to me tomorrow with FRF and KTKx2
I have a good handle on the quality fate reforged cards but everyone else there has a much better handle on khans than me.

I came to the realization that one mechanic in MTG that really turns me off is that I don't get to choose where my monsters attack. I realize there's a different level of strategy involved when your opponent can choose to block attacks with a creature of their choice, but I don't like the lack of agency.

There are actually cards for this, saw them while looking at the card list to write my post. That one. The effect is expensive to achieve[/url] but it's so damn strong. Also that one cost the friend who dragged me there a game, get some creatures, go face and "nope you can't block that". And if you kill it? It can come back! The horror.
Unrelated, but its Ferocious effect is so ridiculously strong for the cost.
Thing is, in MTG you'd have Mechwarper be a 2/1 for 1, basically, so that's why you need ways to keep them alive. Young Priestess is bad, Blood Imp is passable, for exactly this reason: he's not as easy to remove. On the other hand if you don't have tokens or standard creatures to block a big-ass one, you're going to have to sack your valuable tap/passive effect creatures at some point if you don't want to just die. Also attacking meaning you can't block (and your opponent not taking risks with some removal unless you attack anyway) is something I liked. It felt like to remove some creatures you had to bait your opponent into attacking with them, or blocking with them, so you could use one of the nasty spells in your hand to mess up the board. Of course it was also annoying at times because you know he has something up, but you don't know what, or how much of a margin you have (blocking without losing a creature saves him a turn and I can't block with mine next turn, if he kills mine because I'm attacking then I waste these 3 turns of Bolster/counters), but since it was a draft I didn't feel at a disadvantage not knowing the meta or anything because I didn't lack as much information as to the stuff to expect compared to an experienced player.

Really? Cuz for me it's the opposite, I hate the fact I can't choose to just tank things with my face to keep something alive .

I mean, clearly this mechanic has worked for MTG for years and allows them to create a game with incredibly strategic depth, but I just personally don't care for it. Although that might be tinted by playing a ton of Yu-Gi-Oh growing up.

I mean, I never played Yu-Gi-Oh at any sort of competitive level, just with friends, so I never got jaded on the mechanics or anything lol.

How does Yugi-Oh work already? Forgot about that. There's the attack position and defense position, and you can only attack the other player's HP if they have no monsters in defense position on their board, or something like that (and in exchange you can't attack in defense position, and it takes the monster's whole turn to switch)?

Close. You can't attack their life points if they have any monsters on the board, attack or defense. You can summon monster's face down in defense position, but if you flip to attack with them they are stuck there until the next turn.

When I played Yu-Gi-Oh!, we played it like the first TV show season.
