I've been surpremely tempted to spend money on packs because I really want all the Sneed's Shredder type minions in one deck + recombobulators + unstable portal etc.

One time Gazlowe got me 2x Iron Juggernauts. That was hilarious.

Already have a mid-range one with Quartermaster/Muster and lots of 5-drops, now I can finally get closer to true control Pally. Ideally I'd also have a Rag, Boom, or some other high cost Legendary, plus Lay on Hands, but with Syl and Tirion, it's getting into the playable range.

Having broken once and spent cash for cards, I can tell you that it is fucking satisfying to just keep opening and opening and opening and opening...

Opening and opening sucks when you have nothing to show for it after ~20 packs. Crafting Boom in another 200 dust will be nice I guess but I dunno if I have completed versions of any of the modern decks yet. Haven't bothered checking really, just been busy dropping my average winrate in arena and opening more mostly shitty packs.

I think I'll feel better opening up some real cardboard crack this upcoming weekend. Ugin hype.

I've only bought cards with money once, and the only thing I got out of it (other than the free Mechatorque) was a Golden Knife Juggler.

I recently bought the rest of Naxx with cash, though, I didn't want to grind for the wings. That I feel is worth it because it's guaranteed good cards, and also the solo experience is fun.

No, but we kept things relatively simple and cheap. Planning is stressful so you have to weight that vs the cost. It can be a good learning experience
Also it helps if you have family/friends nearby that can help with stuff.

A friend's going to drag me to a MTG sealed deck draft/tourney next week-end. Crash course gogo, even Wave can teach me stuff instead of bashing his head against the wall calling himself bad, you'd better use the opportunity before I get good enough at SG to make you cry in a corner!

I don't think I've got a single one "true" deck completed, although I went pretty close for Hunter (without even trying to do so). I tried to include Gazlowe in a Rogue deck but he's easy to remove (low stats for the cost) so you want to combo him, and that makes you keep cards till pretty late while you'd often use them earlier one (for 1, you've got prep+tinkerer oil, or deadly poison, basically).
Cant take LMS hipsters serious.

I've had some success with the standard control rogue http://www.liquidhearth.com/staff/Hayl_Storm/powerranks/January2015/lk0Y4LX.png . Swapped Dr. Boom for KT though which so far has been fine for me.

I more or less know how to play Magic (phases, a bunch of technical terms, etc.) but since it was mostly EDH and using decks people lent me (they all have 3+ decks with them whenever they move like that), there is a distinct lack of drafting/deck-building skill in there. :')

Well see Numy I have neither Ragnaros, nor Sylvanas (nor Thalnos, Leeroy or class legendaries apart from King Krush) and I only opened one Prep too. Doesn't help. I did craft Boom, but apart from him and something like 1 Faceless, 1 Doomguard, 1 Azure Drake, 1 Argent Commander and 1 Defender of Argus, I haven't crafted anything (save for the "starter pack" of DID/SSC/novice when they were the staple of every deck).

"Black Mirror" is both incredible, and incredibly fucked up at the same time.

Also, I SUCK at Pokebattles AND Battle Mansion. Can't even reach 10 wins in Super Rotation.

edit: When I play "Rogue Control" I play the Elmo's Molten Giant one. Surprised I never thought of Molten Giants in Rogue before. Feels so good playing a Sprint into discounted Giants.

You can review the Fate Reforged set so you know what all the cards do and practice making decks with a sealed pool generator online and getting feedback

Yes and she was a huge help.

For reference our wedding was not simple. We invited 200 people to the wedding and about 150 of them said they'd come. The planner we chose served several functions for us:
  • It was her job to make sure that all the various pieces fit together properly on the wedding day. She ensured the photographer was there on time and kept to the schedule. She made sure the food and cake arrived at the reception. If anything went wrong it was her job to make it right ASAP. This part of the job is the most important and the least visible (if your planner is doing it right).
  • She had established contacts for catering, cakes, DJs, decorations etc. Being able to pull from a list of options that were genuinely endorsed was extremely helpful.
  • Gave my mother-in-law peace of mind.

The cost and complexity of a wedding increases as its size increases, so if you're planning on something small and simple you probably don't need a planner, but if you're in a position similar to the one I was in you'll be running into severe decision fatigue and having someone to keep the cogs moving so you don't have to worry about anything on the big day is a big help.

Just choose a planner carefully. You can get variants who'll plan everything for you (which some people want) and you can get those who'll just support you (which is what we wanted).

Nothing to add to anything people have said re wedding stuff (at least not from work). I cam later if you still care req but the advice given is good.

Alaric re: MTG also listen to other people. I have the exact same problem in that my drafting is probably my absolute weakest aspect of my card playing (HS included). Mordek I think you should totally give us both feedback on potential drafts haha
