A lot of them? Most even?

Unless you're being super strict about 'without glitches'(like, anything even remotely abusing a game mechanic is a glitch), I think the speedruns that rely more on really minor things that save a few seconds here and there and aren't sequence breaking are the majority.

Good examples from this AGDQ are the 2d Mario block, the two Mega Man races(X3 should be good too, didn't stay up to watch it but I know the run), Super Monkey Ball Deluxe, Zelda II, the second Sonic block(started with Sonic 2). I'm sure there are others I just didn't see or am forgetting.

The thing about Christianity is that being a good person doesn't guarantee going to the afterlife because the afterlife is predicated mostly on whether or not you turn to Jesus Christ. Exactly how that decision is tied to being a good person is a complicated question but few other religions start from a position of accepting mercy rather than performing works. IIRC there's two other religions that do it and one of them is Mormonism.

There's actually a lot of differences between religions if you read up on them enough, it's pretty interesting. "Love your neighbor" may be a common theme but it doesn't really make them that similar, IMO.

there's my 2 cents.

yeah but Mormonism is like the hick Christianity expansion pack and Christianity is like the easy mode they made to Judaism a couple centuries ago with more likable characters. It makes sense that they are similar.

i love that family guy skit where osama bin ladin is hiding in a cave and people show up to shoot him and at the last second he says "i accept Jesus as my lord and savior" and then he goes to heaven and says yes.

Yes, if just saying those words is enough, that would be dumb and also inaccurate (biblically).

yeah i know its satire and the belief is that just saying it isn't taking it to heart.
same thing with the theory that believing is the smarter choice because if its true you will go to heaven as opposed to hell and if its false then you didn't lose anything anyway. Can't trick god like that he would know.

pascal's wager

doesn't take into account that a christian god is any more likely than any other infinite possible gods
i like david mitchells third option that there is a heaven but only atheists can go
so you just have a bunch of bitter atheists and lovely angels are trying to hand them cream cakes and they're just like
"SOD OFF"
"worst of all I was wrong"

its like there are infinite possible ways our universe can have no god and also infinite ways it can have a god/gods but that would put one singular religions god at a 1/infinity chance of existing which isn't good odds if you ask me

of course thats assuming equal probability but we have no evidence so we can only assume its equal probability

Uhhhh idk, they break the shit out of a lot of games lol. But honestly that's part of speed running. I used to think it was "dumb" and "cheating" but then I realized mastering the glitches is part of makes watching speed runs actually fun. I saw the light.

I'm not a Christian so I'm likely speaking out of my element (apologizes if I offend anyone) but from what I've gleamed is that the bible really falls apart if you study it carefully, that is if you take the bible for having literal truths in it. Of course that being said, I think the bible has a bunch of great wisdom in it.

I think that religion, like most things in life, has its pros and cons.

@Requizen: I think it's great that you can have a healthy relationship with your fiancée even though you too share different religious beliefs. I really think that religious beliefs are a barrier only if you let the them be. I know for me personally one of my best friends is a devout Christian where I'm fairly agnostic - and we both know where we stand on our religious beliefs.

Again, sorry if I stepped on anyone's toes.

oh interesting i never considered that not believing in an eternal consciousness could be the secret key to an afterlife. i always considered it like your odds were either 0 or 1/<how ever many religions> I wouldn't even be bitter tho i'd party with everyone else for a few centuries. after that i guess i would just be begging for oblivion out of boredom for eternity.
