I'm thinking of buying Valkyria Chronicles for 25% off. Not sure if it's wroth it at that low discount or not. Blown already 40$ on this steam sale by getting Shadow of Mordor and Shadowrun games. At this rate my funds will be gone before day 3.

Castle Crashers is $1.50? Man, I remember getting it with my brother when it first came out years ago on xbox live arcade. I had a blast with that. That's a game I'd love to just dick around with again.

I find it interesting how it became popular in the 30s and 40s, but then everyone was like "oh shit the Nazis liked this" and popularity fell, but then with the rise of women's rights (particularly reproductive rights), eugenics has in some ways become a fait accompli, without anyone saying a word: 92% of Down's syndrome fetuses in Europe are terminated.

That's because it's fucked up. Europe is fucked up. Stop being fucked up.

First game I spent $15 to download. Before that $10 was the standard on Xbox Live.

that statistic feels wrong btw
are you sure it's 92% of total fetuses?
it should be 92% of tested-for-downs fetuses

Right, they have to be diagnosed in order to be terminated due to diagnosis. Seems like it's about 65-80% in the U.S.

Well when you start vomiting everywhere and shivering until you feel like you about to die you find one fucking fast. This happened to me the first time my brother comes down to visit me in Cape Town after 3 years of being there.

Well at that point don't you just go to the ER?

I'm talking about finding a doctor covered by my plan for a Physical, which I haven't had in like, ~6-7 years.

It only can support 8 billion people if we create supercrops / go full insect / economize fusion energy (it's coming, sooner than you think) / get a little bit of coke in our food every day (just kidding, but it might help, maybe? It's defnitely up for discussion, just like daily drinking aka alcoholism is)

Who is Neo Malthusian and what do he do and why is it disputed? + Show Spoiler +
also note I'm joking about the Neo

Supercrops? The issue currently in terms of food isn't food production and availability (we produce more than enough food as is to feed everyone already), the issue is food accessibility. That is to say, getting food to the the poorest in the world. The primary cause of malnutrition and starvation presently is that people who need food don't have access to it, as opposed to there being any true scarcity of food. Look up Food security, there's a large field of work on the issue, and the primary argument has been that the issue is one of distribution and access, not production.

In any event, the idea of needing "population controls" is bogus and ridiculous. We can look at China for the major demographic crisis such policies can cause. aka, massive gender imbalance that will lead to a major demographic crisis in the future (aging population, shrinking workforce, esp. in comparing retired:active workforce participants, and over 35 million more men than women, which in a family-focused culture like East Asia is going to cause problems when 40-50 million men can't marry).

Aside from that, the populations and workforces in developed countries (Japan and Europe most prominently; the US and Canada maintains a healthy inflow of migrants which bolsters demographics) faces the issue of 1) an aging population which inevitably means an expanded need for social services which strain public services, and 2) shrinking populations and workforces. The issue for Europe and other developed nations isn't that population growth needs to be curbed: quite the opposite; Europe has a demographic shortfall, and which has been an increasingly pressing issue for the European Commission.

Beyond this, population control is a rather silly term when it ignores the basics of the demographic transition, and lowering birth rates can be accomplished through 1) the widespread provision of prophylactics and forms of birth control (Thailand is a case study in the success of a strong family planning policy, without more coercive birth control measures), 2) improving economic conditions and overall wealth (the wealthier and less agriculturally subsistent you are, and the better the quality of life and social safety net, the less reliant parents are on having more children to act as a form of pension and retirement), 3) women's education (one of the biggest correlations to birth rates: the higher the investment in education and in the enfranchisement of women, the lower the birth rate), 4) better healthcare (and infant mortality rates in particular).

The Neo-Malthusians have been arguing that the world's reaching it's carrying capacity for...centuries. In the mid 20th century they were pointing to limited reserves of mercury, among other things, as signs we were exhausting our industrial reserves. What they failed to realize is that the human capacity for innovation and imagination simply meant we stopped using mercury in the first place. Similar to now with discussions of peak oil; we can, and will, switch to alternate energy sources quite readily, and are in the process of. Agriculture can and will grow more efficient (there's been quite abit of recent activity involving the use of LEDs for greenhouses [and the use of different light patterns to make it even more efficient], or the use of aquaponics), etc.

20s-40s, actually. But yes, Buck v. Bell and others are testament to the scope of the eugenics movement in the US (and the rest of the Anglosphere) until after WWII.

As for the rest of your example, well, that depends on how you classify fetuses among other issues which I don't care to touch.

We have enough food for people. It's just that people without money aren't actually people so there is no problem. It's sad but that's pretty much how the world works and until something major happens it's going to work like that for the foreseeable future.

How do you figure that? Whether you consider fetuses to be fully-fledged human beings or mere genetic seedlings, selective abortion based on prenatal screening is eugenics.
